The current state of Twisted Treeline

Hopefully a rioter will see this and shed some light! Here are some ideas that i pitched to support: I'm a proponent of Twisted Treeline ranked and I very much enjoy the game. However I was wondering if there were any plans to maybe enhance the gamemode such as roles and possibly item reworks. The only real issues I have with 3s is finding a game and playing the role I want (AP Bot lane main) and the support meta. As a bot lane main I don't really need to learn the support meta as much but the issue is that I generally get teammates who intend to either play jungle meta or also bot lane. (However in my elo I've begun to play vs premade groups that play the support meta.) My question is, is there any current plans to improve upon 3s in terms of both the queue and the items? Support meta is extremely difficult to play vs if you're not playing it yourself, and I've heard that Riot doesn't really like feast or famine mechanics. Could there also possibly be roles such as a support/top/jungle/bot role system?

If position select gets added, what would each position be called? Bot, Jungle, Top, and Support are pretty straight-forward, but what about Hypercarry? "Hyper" is unintuitive, and Riot's been avoiding "Carry" for a while.

Plus, wouldn't splitting up positions heavily impact queue times? Especially as relative position popularity varies across MMR (e.g. good luck queuing support or hyper in low-MMR)?

Personally I was hoping for some kind of solution such as maybe the removal of support items because it complicates things so much and creates the one mechanic Riot doesn't like. Which is feast or famine. That's what the support meta is, you have to play consistently and any set back is damn near impossible to recover from. I was thinking for roles to simply be, Top/Bot/Jungle. However if they decided to keep the support items then simply Jungle/Support/Bot. At least it would stabilize a queue and give people the option to decide once in a champion select whether or not they want to actually play support meta or jungle. (I.E. if Taric is banned and other supports) The issue personally is that I cannot always get my preferred role. I'm steadily climbing and earning well up to 26 l.p. per win, but when I must give up my role it becomes much more difficult to climb.

The issue with just doing three positions is that Jungle/Support and Top/Hyper are both mutually-exclusive, and Jungle/Hyper and Top/Support have different playstyles. You're right that it helps out bot mains, but it's more confusing for everyone else.

Plus, back about a year ago when Riot last nerfed Support meta, Riot said they liked TT having options.

I have no intentions of enforcing a meta on TT. Current problem though is that the person getting funneled XP and gold is just scaling too hard. With tuning on the champions that often appear in this role being done for SR, where there are 5 enemies, gameplay becomes degenerative pretty quickly. Unfortunately, we no longer do map specific balancing and have no intentions of starting that up again so we have to make a systemic change.

Support meta will still be viable and if that turns out to not be true, we'll be doing follow up work to ensure that it is :)
