Troll Deterrent Idea

Hi all,

I've had to dodge at least 10 games this week and lost a lot of LP in the process so I got to thinking of a new option which could solve the issue of trolls in ranked queues. You know who I mean, the guys that don't want to support so pick a 2nd ADC or whatever. I know people don't have to play to meta and that's fine but it's fairly obvious when someone is just being a toxic troll.

Anyway, my idea is that when everyone has selected their hero all the players get an option to 'kick' someone from the lobby. If someone chooses a player to 'kick' then the other players get the option to vote them in or out. So if 4 vote to 'kick' the troll out then nobody has to dodge, and this removes the point of someone being a troll. I appreciate this could be abused in rare circumstances but generally everyone can see who the troll is and can vote to get them out the lobby. I'm interested to see what overs think but It seems like a democratic and fair way of doing it, and it's a lot fairer than honest players being punished for having to dodge.

As a way of ensuring this doesn't punish someone unfairly identified as a troll you don't even have to punish the 'kicked' player with an LP loss, just remove them from the lobby.

It wouldn't be abused. It works fine in CSGO; and that community is actually worse than League's (at least NA).

And even it is "abused" sometimes, so what? You requeue and repick. That's like 5min of your life. Big whoop.

But let's say you main poppy mid, and everyone assumes you troll every time you try to queue. 1 hour passes before a team accepts it. actual big whoop.

Players tend to check LoLKing for teammate stats. I don't, but I know a lot of people do. Especially in ranked.

All you have to say is "Look at my LoLKing stats (with Poppy)." They check and they see how good you are/ how you could carry them.

On the other hand, if you actually don't do well as Poppy mid, you deserve to be VoteKicked :)

But let's say you have like a 55-60% win rate with it, but you lost your last 3-4 games for random reasons. People are gonna be like lol nope.

Doubt it. If you have 55-60% with any champ over a considerable amount of games, clearly you know what the fuck you're doing.

Admittedly, your first ~20games in ranked with Poppy will be tough, because you'll have no proof. In which case I suggest you play her in normals for your last 8-10games before joining a ranked game as her. If you can show 7+ wins out of the 10 with Poppy (in normals) I should think you'd be fine. (Assuming you went way over positive with your KDA in most of them).

This could be a problem, but im sure if you linked them your NAOPGG or LOLKING and showed them that you were serious, they would (should) accept it. I feel the Pros of this idea heavily outweigh the cons

I think the thing Tisio's getting at is that there could be a lot of instances where players are faced with significantly longer queue times just for having off-meta picks (even if only slightly). And sure, there are things you could do to deal with it (link them to your stats, rack up a nice looking normal game match history, etc), but that's not something you should have to constantly do just to play.

It's not really fair that a guy with decent experience (50-85+ norms as Poppy, with 15+ mid) as mid-Poppy has to wait significantly longer than someone that has maybe 4 games total (norm and ranked) on their champ just because the latter has a meta pick (it's k my champ is op).

Too many abuse cases.

Picks looking bad for your team Enemy picks a champion your team should of banned. Vote kick, reset, ban that champ next game. (This could be avoided by making you not face the same enemies, which puts more strain on the servers overall). Kicking teammates till you get a support main. Deciding you just don't like that guy. Duo Q's taking advantage of pack mentality.

All this will effect are the obvious trolls. This doesn't stop someone from picking Jinx ADC to perfectly fit your comp and you find out she want AP for the chomper damage after the game has started.

I think all this would do is make thing worse. Trolls would just find another way. And things would end up exactly as they were before hand.

It's a good idea. Inb4 downvotes from sheep crying "would be abused".

Also, more needs to be done about trolls in game as well. Intentional feeding in just 1 game should result in an instant 30 day ban. Doing it a second time should result in an instant permanent IP ban.

Killstrado1 votes

What if someone isn't feeding on purpose and is just constantly ganked, teammates won't help, or they generally are trying but aren't very good. So ban them for 30 days because they had a bad game with some assholes or a premade reported them into oblivion

kromon1k1 votes

It's pretty easy to tell the difference between intentional feeding and getting camped.

Killstrado1 votes

To you and me maybe, but how many dumbasses have said that you were intentionally feeding when you weren't, a lot of players lack common sense and it gets worse when your team starts losing, it's like their toxicity blinds them from logic and reasoning

Everything can be abused, if you are afraid to make change you accomplish nothing.

Ligerzz2 votes

i'd rather make it 3 votes to kick. You never know if they have a duo partner, but i like this idea. Make having ranked games a lot less stressful, especially when going into your promos.

troll picks, autolockers, non meta champs, assholes in select go down actual trolling in game goes nowhere

its a step forward i guess

John W Creasy1 votes

This is my point. I'm not saying it's a perfect idea (no such thing exists) but I think that by being able to reduce the number of trolls in queue then the level of toxicity will come down. Less trolls in theory should result in less annoyed 'normal' players and hopefully be a positive progressive step for the community because at the moment trolls are allowed to do as they please.

I love the idea to kick people.

Sigh...here goes...

You're slowly killing the community by doing this and transforming the game into Dota. Do you remember actually playing a round of Dota back then? Me neither. I got flamed and kicked before I could even last hit a minion.

Awesome feature for Ranked, but player base might die out because it'll be filled with assholes who take this game too seriously. You've giving them power by adding a button that kicks whoever the majority pleases.

In a perfect Democracy, majority rules is flawed.

But there is no kicking option in DOTA 2.......

He said Dota not Dota 2

This idea in one form or another has been discussed off and on before and personally I'm a fan, however anyone have an idea on how to have a system like this work for draft pick? A lot of people call 'gg' based on team comps at the start, so how do we incorporate a system like this without allowing people to using this to cherry pick team comps?

Poptart Evelynn1 votes

This can be seriously abused when someone gets hard countered. "Omg guys we didn't ban X champion lets dodge".

Mr Snoop Dogge1 votes

Great idea, Pro > Cons

GundayMonday1 votes

Takes away any strategy in the pick/ban phase. If you get outpicked, why not just use this to dodge with no consequence? Only problem I can think of.

Yulen Xoshxius1 votes

For all the people that worry this may be a bad idea: It might have its flaws, but its still better than the system Riot put in that gave us bad marks for losing connection.

1nconceivable1 votes

That moment when you have a 100% win rate with said champ in the support role. You get kicked by your team because they think you are troll. Proceeds to be matched up against those same players and ends up dominating the lane.

Killstrado1 votes

I wouldn't say 100% win rate other than that I'd say you just explained my JarvanIV Supp lol

Ryuku Cruxis1 votes

The only time I could see any abuse is 4man premades, kicking people out until they get a champ they want in the position they want, but they'd probably just go to teambuilder anyway.

Ashes Arise1 votes

It would be abused, but trolling is more abusive than kicking could ever possibly be.

MidEvilKnight3k1 votes

If you aren't punishing anybody, you could easily just call it a vote to disband the team, need 4 votes to pass (maybe 3 incase there is a duo queue on your team that is trolling). Unless you plan to just replace that one person on your team, but I think the system would have an easier time just placing you back into the queue normally.

Eawaf1 votes

This idea was posted a week after the game came out. It's old and tired. And if they haven't done it by now they are never going to do it.

This system would be used to discriminate those that don't play the meta. There is no rule that says you have to have certain characters in certain roles.

The example that you give is a 2nd adc bot. I've played ashe support many times in previous seasons and won. I have a full build, i have full masteries, i have hundreds of games of experience. However, none of that would matter in your system. I would most likely be kicked without any consideration if this system was in place.

Figure out a way to prevent this from happening and i would listen to your post. Because so far, in your solution you pretty much say that since i'm the 'rare' occurrence of this happening it's pretty much ok for me to suffer.

I vote no.

SexyTaylorSwift1 votes

False. People would be much more accepting of an Ashe support if you said that you have played it a lot and won with it. People would not be accepting if you are last pick, said "but I called ADC noobs" and then instalock an ADC champ. That isn't playing off meta, that is being an asshole and they should be permabanned in my opinion.

SexyTaylorSwift1 votes

My idea to fix the problem is that the player doing the trolling should get a perma ban. Problem solved. It would also solve the "toxic community" problem since people wouldn't have to rage at those players.

Eawaf1 votes

You can be pissed at them if they said that imo. But there is no rule that says you can't have 2 adcs.
