Is the support role for Supports anymore?

I love playing support, and while it can get incredibly frustrating sometimes, jumping in with the last minute Braum Shield or landing the perfect Leona Ult just makes me smile ear to ear. But recently, as in the start of the new meta to be honest, the support role seems to be vanishing to me. I'm almost constantly going into a bot lane with two adcs running us down or a mid laner bursting us before I can even move. Normally I wouldn't complain, but it has gotten to the point where it feels like picking an actually support (not Lux or Lysandra I don't care what the store page still says they are absolutely mid laners) is weakening the team to where the utility almost doesn't matter, only how much damage can you output and make the other team 100 to 0 fastest.

To be honest, I may be just getting matched into games with players just honestly better than me, but it feels weird to see this sudden shift in what my preferred role is to this game. Anyone else been thinking this same thing or am I alone in my thoughts here?

I still play Janna, Nami, Blitz, Thresh, Bard, Soraka, Zyra from time to time, Alistar from time to time... etc. I play all supports with m7 on most of them and even play them in other lanes too.

I also occasionally take Nidalee support.

So its just whatever you feel like playing. Just because they have a more damage support like Brand or Leblanc doesnt mean you cant stomp them with Thresh or Blitz or Morgana. However, it ends up being mostly determined on how good both the laners are. If if the ADC is good, then chances are they will win lane even with average support. If support is good, then you would need at least an average adc to do anything except farm and you will need jungle ganks for sure.

not the supporty kind youre thinking of IMO. once riot demolished the last decent enchanter, its more or less whoever has the higher kill pressure.

Right now, in a damage focused game, you most certainly need to adapt your pool to damaging supports. Soraka, Sona, Nami, and Janna just dont cut it anymore. You need strong AoE burst champions like Brand, Morgana, Lux, and Karma just to compete.

No we are in a Assasine meta. PPl complained about Ardent beeing to strong, but do not tolerate me saying duskblade shouldnt have been introduced in the first place. In my optionen, we do have 2 possibilitys ro fix LoL.

  1. We keep the overpowered state, assasines and some bruiser are in. but revert Ardent Cencer back to how it was before it was gutted in 7.23 i guess. -> Everything is strong.

  2. We remove Duskblade aka nerf Assasines back to the state they had during Ardent/Tank meta. -> Everything is weak.

This would equal things out and we could maybe have a balanced powers again. It would give us some counterplay possibilitys. Due to this beeing only my opinion, is like to ask, if anyoe does agree?

Tank- and enchantersupports are shit right now. With the ignite buffs, additional dmg from runes and weak adcs there is no incentive to play anything but dmg supports. It's all about having more kill pressure getting that towel gold and becoming a second midlaner.

I always prefered to build dmg as a support, but now it's getting ridiculous
