Why can't i get chests from S- or higher?

I have been getting numerous S and S+ es but no chests, even tho when i go to my profile and hover over the chest icon it says i can earn a chest if i get an S- or higher.

Have you already earned a chest with that champion this season?

Have you RTFM? https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/207884233-Hextech-Crafting-Guide if you can't find it. There is a section "WHY AM I NOT EARNING CHESTS?"

So i can't get a chest with that champion? so i have to take another champ that i haven't got a chest with and then get and S- or higher? Is it that when i get that golden border around that champ then i can't get another one until the season ends?

Yeah, under " My collection" You will notice that some champions have a golden border around and if you hover it will indicate "Chest acquired" like this
