Abuse his early game. Vlad is arguably one of the weakest early game champions. He has low auto attack damage, low attack speed, low auto attack range, low base damage on his early game abilities, and his cooldowns are fairly long in the early game.

As long as you farm and itemize well you shouldn't have a problem.

Edit: keeping in mind that even if you shut down vlad early, if you give him time to recover he ramps up very quickly due to his ability to farm extremely easily.

What champions should i use

Basically you want champions that can stick to him and/or outscale him.

Currently the tank meta favors vlad so you'll probably have to go outside your comfort zone and learn some new champs as well as adjusting your runes so you have MR glyphs.

Champions I typically struggle in lane against as a top Vlad main?

Riven, Xin Zhao, Rengar, and Swain all immediately come to mind as immediate threats (though I do admit it's been awhile since I played on a regular basis). I can beat them if they're just playing the champion because "vlad counter" or if I'm really playing well, but typically these are the match ups I have to really pay attention to or Other champions (basically any champion with both high early stick and damage) can do well against Vlad if they can a decent early lead but it just depends on the differences in player skill and itemization after that.

I wrote this when I was angry at the amount of "Vlad OP" threads.

You're on the right track by asking for advice instead of just complaining about him.

Some of those match ups are either dead even or even in favor of vlad as long as vlad is competent.

DONT DO LIMITED ENGAGEMENTS. Vlad can sustain through a ton of poke and limited skirmishes. If you are going to go in on Vlad, all in. He Q's E's and tries to pool away, then he's done.

Dont let him take one shot then Q as he runs away while you disengage. Make sure to make him feel pain. Let him push a little, get a gank, and trash him

you have to play a champion that can shit on him early game because picking anything else means he just outscales you or bullies and outscales you

As a vlad player I can say swain is a bitch and I always had trouble with brand.

Darius. Vlad cannot do anything against Darius at all after he gets apprehend.

Vlad Q's, Darius' hook is literally 50 range less than his Q so it's impossible to not get hooked as vlad. Darius rushes a bit of MR, Vlad can never kill darius again without a gank. It's literally almost a nightmare lane if you ever get within hook range, all Vlad can do is hope to get ahead early, or pool the hook which requires fast reaction time.
