This guy actually misses the point by quite a long way, especially in the case of Troggzor.

The reason why people thought Troggzor would be strong is because no-one predicted the way that GvG would change the game. People wern't expecting Mech synergy to come out swinging like it did and no-one was expecting cards like Snowchugger, Goblin Blast Mage, Shielded Minibot and Muster to completely swing Mech Mage and Aggro Pali into the scene.

With the changes towards heavy aggro started by Nax being solidified it became impossible to play a card as slow as Troggzor, Dr. Boom is a far better card because it has a higher board impact immediately, which would have been less valuable than Troggzor in base and arguably even Nax.

I also think he's drastically understating what Duskblade does for Zed. Duskblade broke the hell out of him. He was already a strong, borderline broken champ before this item and even after his two subsequent nerfs he's still stronger than he was before its introduction.

I'd also say that neither of these examples are applicable to the mage item update. He said it himself, it's easy to see when balance is being moved drastically from the curve of balance. Mage items are already well bellow the average power of an item in LoL so when there's a clear set of nerfs on those items it's easy too foresee the end result. An already weak class becomes worthless.
