What happens to the Green Father?

Ivern RIP already? I personally was super hyped for Ivern, bought him and his skin the second he came to live servers and even had fun despite losing practically every game with him. But is he going to be pushed out of the jg? The major selling points on him were his ability to create brush and being slippery due to his Q . But with s7 around the corner Riot removes jg buffs and makes all the assassin far more mobile and with their own item 3102 item. So will this already weak champ (Sorry bro, but EVERYONE knows it) be made unviable? I know there's the "Greenfather's gift" being added in the fourth Tier Cunning Tree to help with his brush combat, but know pretty much every assassin that isn't in mid (hell they might still just hunt you down anyways) can both spell shield the snare (if he even chooses to use it to engage instead of just flat out booking it) and far out maneuver the soon to be GodWillow. I understand he may still be the best for clearing the Krug-alanche and raid raptors in s7 but it seems like he lost all edges he had in jg besides the extra buffs. Far out manueverd by the assassins, and brush tactics won't work due to Rengar and Kha'Zix with an evolved Ult let alone the new jg plants. So what happens to the Frejlord turned tree?

He came out a two patches before the preseason patch, that means he was most likely on alpha the same time as a lot of the jungle and assassin changes. Tbh he isn't weak, just has a learning curve and I don't think there will be that noticeable of a change in how he jungles, besides possibly being stronger. Also he didn't benefit from Krugs smite buff at all and gromps wasn't worth much to him either and now when you smite a camp they all give a bit of health. Sounds to me he was released more balanced with the new jungle coming up then the one he was released in.

Also don't forget about the new keystone, Courage of the Nautilu..uh I mean Colossus ;)

In this regard I was mainly referring to smiting raptors, as but there are a couple of things that will go well with him but how some champs were worked a bit and the bumper plants it seems like he won't be able to escape that easy. And you're right, I shouldn't have said weak, as he can do a good ordeal of damage/shielding if built correctly

Yeah I did value the raptors buff quite a bit when playing him and it will be missed, my hope is that once they sort out the wards it will make up for it but who knows. As for escaping I think you'll just have to rely on his move speed and pray for an uncleared camp or a fleeing enemy to use Q as an escape instead of cc engage (as long as talon isn't following lmao) I do however think ivern will remain annoying enough to get away from rengar and kha and should have no worries about the others as well

You're ignoring the fact that the item has a 1.5 second cast time. That's a pretty big window to land your CC in. Also, they want assassins to be about sustained consistent damage and mobility as opposed to burst

That's true in the sense that he sees what you're doing before you pull it off. But I feel it's going to be way easier to get the drop on him given the new Assassin item changes (Duskblade) and the new vision plant. So he may still be able to fight you but the bonus of bringing nearby people (or Daisy) to you will be a big impact in fights/roaming.

I disagree, and let me explain why.

People are playing Ivern as either a burst mage or a Kayle of some sort, or a front liner. I'm not blaming people for thinking it's the way to go, but, I feel like he's more of a Support. Let's look through his kit, shall we?

His passive allows him to have an easy time clearing the Jungle. He can leave his blue buff and red buff to his team after level six.

His Q gives you a root, one that allows your allies to quickly get in the middle of the enemy team, which can be very good if you have a Juggernaut, as an example.

His W has a lot of potential, but is mostly used as an attack speed steroid. It's a confusing spell but I honestly believe there's a lot more to it than attack speed.

His E gives you or your allies a shield, a very strong shield which has a really powerful slow attached to it too.

His R is a tanky fella who can knock the enemy team up and is kind of tanky, if I may say so myself.

His highest win rate involves him buying item 1410 item 3117 item 3190 item 3504 item 3174 and an item like item 3026 or item 3116 to finish the build off.

Assassins will be dominating the Meta, making Supports much more important. Which is why I think Ivern will become a much better pick once Pre-Season hits.
