Legitimate reasons (and ideas) for ARAM Ranked mode
ARAM RANKED (and potential gameplay changes)
When people think League of Legends, they think of Summoners Rift and all the great plays that happen there. To the summoners that have played ARAM, they know that it’s just as fun, maybe even more so, and it’s a great place to have fun with friends, or un-tilt from a loss streak of stressful games. Whatever the reason for playing, ARAM is always a fun time, except when the other team has a ziggs, lux, blitz, fiddle, morgana, a bunch of tanks, or some more annoying champs... But that’s why there would be bans, to remove the OP champs and any UP champs. Riot would probably have to balance ARAM and make a few changes, so I put some suggestions me and my friends came up with below.
Why there should be ARAM Ranked
-To have a fun, competitive game mode that’s not quite as serious as Summoners Rift Ranked -To increase cooperation in team fights, as there would be more incentive to win -To separate the people playing to un-tilt and the people who play to win while having fun -To encourage players to not main just one or two champions or rolls, but to have an understanding of how to all the champions in League (or at least most of them) -To have another option to Summoners Rift when playing league. Riot did make a lot of good, needed changes to Twisted Treeline, but I feel that ARAM Ranked could be much more beneficial to the LoL community -and because ARAM is awesome.
Notes:
-Lp would be different between S.R. Ranked and ARAM Ranked, or at least that’s the view I took when writing this. ARAM Ranked matches would not influence Lp, nor would Summoners Rift Matches change your ARAM rank. -I am not thinking of Ranked ARAM as tournament material, but just as an alternative to Ranked at the moment, to switch up the game a little bit. -To deal with the ARAM specific accounts (accounts where the user only owns a select few champions that are 'over powered' in ARAM or they are really good at) there would be a minimum champion count (50 or something) OR random from all champs. -Hextech crafting solution in the reward section.
Champion Select would take place in 3 stages:
- 10 bans, 1 for each person
- Assigned random champions (blind), able to trade/reroll (1 per game)
- Other team’s champions become visible, given some time to decide on masteries, rune pages, and summoner spells, also to talk out some team strategy. -Leaving during any phase would result in a ban, as well as losing your series. -Leaving champion select during the 3rd phase would count as a loss for the person that dodges, due to deciding that they lost the match because of team comps.
Potential Gameplay change ideas:
-Put in the 15 second delayed start barrier that is currently in S.R. due to some people maybe not knowing what to build as starting items, and add in the move speed boost at game start. -Keep/edit allied healing restrictions (50% or something) -Potentially revamp some items with activatables or cd passives and reduce the cooldowns so that their used more than 3 times throughout the game, like what happened to summoner spells (duskblade, zhonyas, archangels etc) -Keep poro snacks, but give them a purpose, like using it makes a poro enter and stay in a specified location for a few seconds, acting like a ward, also revealing traps and hidden units in the area. Potentially make them purchasable for 75 gold like old wards (with a limit), or have them restock on a turret being destroyed like it is currently, maybe also on aces or multi-kills. -No recall, as it is at the moment -put the heal pad timers at the top of the scoreboard where big/epic jungle monsters are currently, able to focus more on the game then on timers
Ranked System:
-Level 30 minimum. -5 games to get ranked. -Similar to LP and division system in summoners rift rank, but there would be NO divisions, only bronze silver gold plat diamond, potentialy master/ challenger if necessary. -100 points (AP for Abyss Points?) to enter series, series would be a best of 3 (or 5). Fail to succeed in series; get the free win next time like it is in S.R. Ranked. -Winning games would give points, losing games would deduct points. Amount of points granted would vary based on SCORE and CS, as well as damage output to champions, structure takedowns, etc. Basically, the higher your letter grade (assuming it calculates off of that) the more points you would get. This wouldn't change the amount of points too much though, maybe a +2 per lettergrade above a B or something. -For Match Making Rating, not much would change from how it is in Summoners Rift. You would have a norm ARAM mmr and a ranked ARAM mmr, like it is for ranked vs norms in Summoners Rift. -If the match has higher averedge mmr than yours, gain more Lp. if it's lower, gain less. -On averedge, I'm thinking around 15-25 Lp a game. Increase on win streaks due to mmr vs rank increase.
Rewards:
-Because the main feature of League of Legends is on Summoners Rift, the end of season ARAM Ranked rewards couldn't be quite as prominent as flashy borders and icons, and skins if you’re good enough. HOWEVER there would have to be something significant so that ARAM ranked would have a purpose. Maybe a special border effect that is added to your normal ranked border, in addition to special icons, maybe skins, ward skins etc. So if you didn't feel like reading that basically: -Special Icons -Special border add-ons depending on rank -Potentially gain the victorious skin of that season if ranked higher than gold
-If the pool that your champion is being picked out of includes all of the champions in the game, then hextech boxes and keys would have to be able to be obtained even if a summoner does not own their champion, or else you could get a champion you do not own for multiple games, get an S, and still get no chest.
If the number of people who will play ARAM Ranked seems to be an issue, I don't think it will be. I've seen plenty of ARAM Ranked threads, as well as ideas. Every ARAM player will definately be willing to at least try it once, and who knows, maybe even those challenger players that seem out of reach might play it too.
If Ranked ARAM is added into League of Legends, I believe the game will only get more fun than it already is. I have always wanted a ranked mode where people still play to win, but you don’t get people flaming and raging when somebody gives up first blood or feeds the Draaaaaaaaaaaven. I realize that there are a massive amount of problems that could come up with playing a match of ARAM Ranked, because when you get that one guy who snowballs in as an adc whenever they’re up, it can get you pretty salty, as well as the random champion selection in general. But on the other hand, I can also see a variety of benefits that can come out of this, like pulling out a person’s inner team fighting spirit and a way for those bronze 5 players that have 10 000 ARAM wins but don’t know how to jungle. As said earlier, another reason why ARAM Ranked should exist is because, as we all know,
ARAM is awesome.

who I don't own but did really well with in one game. It's not like you can even get higher than lvl 5 through ARAM anyway. What is the point if you can't even get lvl 6 and 7 mastery tokens? It's pretty much just a cheap way to farm mastery levels right now.
