If your top lane is getting heavy camped top and you refuse to help him, he has every right to afk

Nimblewood··4 votes·2,465 views

As a toplaner, if you are getting camped repettitively, even if they dont kill you, and the top laner politely asks for assistance, and jungler response is "err nope", just afk

If you think ur funny to literally go out of your way to not help your struggling top laner then fuck it and afk the match

atleast then they will be taught a valuable lesson

You're a top lane main and you complain about jungler not helping? And threaten to AFK? Sounds like you need to find another role to main bro. Top lane sounds too tough for you...

SnakDatSmilesBak2 votes

He's talking about the games where a jungler goes "out of his way to not help." Afking is almost reasonable in those cases.

FooDang3 votes

Jungler has his own agenda on what he wants to do in a game. If he doesnt come top lane then leave the lane and go push mid or bottom. Either the JG will be forced to defend the lane or group 5 man and push. There are other options than AFK.

SnakDatSmilesBak3 votes

Yeah, I don't condone afking. I'm just sympathizing with op because I know it's frustrating.

Jungle might have his own agenda but punishing over-extended lanes should be close to the top of his list of priorities. Am I wrong about that?

FooDang1 votes

He was talking about getting camped. If that happens and is successful then the enemy top laner is fed. If I was jungler I'd assess the situation and think to myself " Can that guy kick my ass?" If the answer is yes then why gank a lane that has a guy that can kick your ass, kick your top lanes ass. And has a pocket JG with assists camping his lane that can back him up if he is getting his ass kicked. Errrrrrrr nope.

SnakDatSmilesBak2 votes

Yup but in that case SOMETHING has to be done to stop that enemy top. If that top is fed, that's a large objective for your team. Why? Because your team will get a large amount of gold and xp for the shutdown.

Riot has set their game up so that winning requires teamwork. 90% of the time a team with better teamwork will win. It's how I win my games, I'm a shitty player mechanically and there's lots I need to learn about the game but I involve everyone and I don't leave losing lanes in the dust.

I'm not saying afking is right, I'm saying that a good team will help a lane that got camped. If I'm wrong about that, can you correct me?

FooDang1 votes

Solo queue is a different animal. If you have voice coms then maybe gank with the midlane or lane swap with bottom. Other than that if I was jg I wouldnt gank a fed top lane thats getting camped by an enemy jungler with assists. Ill go 3 man dive bot lane and take tower + drag.

SnakDatSmilesBak1 votes

Of course if the enemy jungler is there you wouldn't gank since you'll lose the 2v2. But you would at least look for opportunities to gank right? I don't jungle much so this is helping a lot.

FooDang1 votes

Warding for your top lane helps and of course finding the enemy jungler. But top lane is mostly on the low end of the priority list compared to mid/bot/drag.

SnakDatSmilesBak1 votes

Ok so to summarize, if your top laner is getting camped then focus elsewhere on the map.

Do you look for opportunities to gank or do you just completely abandon that side of the map? Does this logic still count if it's your bot side that's getting camped?

FooDang1 votes

Not every game is the same and there are a ton of variables to take into account and it all comes down to jungler instincts. But yea if bot lane is getting camped then get your ass down there or you will lose drags, or camp midlane.

SnakDatSmilesBak1 votes

Thanks for all the replies bro it helps to discuss things like this.

If you use that logic then shouldn't you get your ass to top otherwise you'll lose herald? Herald is arguably more valuable than dragons are now.

FooDang1 votes

Well, depends. If its cloud drake then yea herald would probably be a better focus. If infernal is up then its up to you. Im personally not a jg main I just play it for the sake of knowing the role and I definitely wouldnt queue for it in ranked. My jungler instincts/rotations are not the best but I do know a little. Knowing Where to flex is the hardest thing about jungling and clearing time to stay paid and being where you need to be in a timely manner.

SnakDatSmilesBak1 votes

Yup I agree, that's why I'm curious about things like this.

HaIlMonitor1 votes

Sometimes. I will almost always commit most of my time to Mid or Bot. Mid because they also roam (hopefully), or bot because 3 people being fed is usually better then 2, + tower/dragon control.

SnakDatSmilesBak2 votes

I understand this, but isn't top considered a 2v2 lane?

Imo a team should try to help lanes that are behind.

I go support 90% of the time so take what I say with a grain of salt. If top is getting camped then that means that the other two lanes should be able to get ahead! It's then their responsibility to help the lane that was set behind.

In my games this means when my top laner gets camped I can almost always get my adc fed because we aren't being pressured at all. Then I go top and help the guy out a little. I find that it really helps to make my top laner feel like the team has his back. Abandoning my teammates rarely makes things better and just tilts the abandoned player even more.

Op is wrong to say that people should afk, but he's got the right idea that your team should help make up the deficit caused by getting camped. That's my two cents. Now if I'm wrong please correct me!

HaIlMonitor1 votes

Yeah, you want to help everyone. But depending how hard your top is losing its better not to waste time. Like the good ol die 3 times by 6 minutes and then rage they dont get help.

SnakDatSmilesBak2 votes

Yup but eventually you will send people up there to kill their laner and take a tower right? Or is it actually just best to forsake that lane for the entire game? The reason I think it's a good idea to kill that enemy laner is because recently there were strong rubber band mechanics added that make it so killing enemies of a higher level than you is very very beneficial in terms of the xp you get.

HaIlMonitor1 votes

The both lane you fed could rotate, mid and jungle could gank, there are so many options. But no reason to try to 2v1 when you are going to die. Some champs like Fiora are just to strong when they get a little a head it wont matter even if you 4 man her she will kill 2 people.

The Whamboozler3 votes

You are. There are a TON of different things a jungler can do. If the jungler is a weak one early, he would just feed more if he ran top into a fed lane to try and relieve pressure. (And I suspect then the toxic OP would then rage at the jungler too for "feeding his lane" or "fail ganks") The jungler may decide to put pressure mid or bot instead, counting on the fact that the enemy jungler is always top to make sure his ganks can't be counter-ganked. The jungler might just counter-jungle the shit out of the enemy jungler or take dragons/objectives to set them back. Sometimes the jungle champs picked make camping top in return doomed to failure. A Xin Zhao can camp top with a Riven on his side against... say.... Tryndamere. If Trynd's jungler is Yi, there's VERY little Yi can do to match that early game power and going top would just make it worse. This is often the case with top/jungle tanks vs a fed top with more damage as well. Ganking is just going to waste time, at best... or get the enemy team a double at worst.

Camping for the top laner who is getting camped is actually RARELY the best move. Especially if said top laner is the kind of whiny crybaby who thinks AFK'ing is acceptable if he doesn't get his way. I personally would rather lose than validate that kind of selfish brat behavior. Also the OP isn't saying so, but people like that rarely ask for help with anything but insults, blaming statements of passive-aggressive bullshit. Saying "please help me, getting camped" is possible, but more likely it was some catty bullshit like "Omg udyr top 3 times. Wish I had a jungler". Or "no ganks gg".

SnakDatSmilesBak1 votes

I'm not suggesting camping, I'm saying that isn't punishing an over-extended laner very important for a jungler? If I'm playing jungle and I see a top laner standing in front of my top's tower all the time, I'm going up there to kill his ass or at least make him back off.

Now obviously if the laner can 1v2, bring more help or don't go there until he can't 1v2.

Also quite obviously if their jungler is spending literally all their time in top then you should consider that a won game since their bot side will lose hard and you will own their jungle.

But in general, if a laner is over-extended shouldn't a jungler go and relieve some pressure? Just making your presence felt (walking over a ward, showing on that side of the map, etc.) is enough to relieve pressure most times.

Edit: just to clarify, you are disagreeing with the following statement, correct? "he's got the right idea that your team should help make up the deficit caused by getting camped"

The Whamboozler1 votes

I'm saying that counter-ganking a fed lane... or even being SEEN near the fed lane isn't always the best course of action. Sometimes the top laner needs to just suck it up and try to hold as desperately as he can while the jungler gets work done elsewhere. Sometimes he might be best baiting MORE ganks top to ensure his jungler has run of the rest of the map. Sometimes the top and jungler can turn around and get the top back in the game.

It's all situational, based on the champs, the match up, who is fed and who is where on the map. Going top is NOT always the answer. Some champs just win lane and can 2v1. Renekton used to be infamous for this. Darius still is. Fed Riven or Fizz can 2v1 easily. The OP implied that he was getting his butt camped off too, so it's extremely likely the (fed) enemy jungler is also near top to thwart your attempts to fix the lane. It is NOT always the right call to go top just because the top laner is having a hard time. SOMETIMES it is. Sometimes it's not.

And even if it WAS 100% the right call to go top and help out... crying about not getting help and afking like a little bitch who didn't get his way is NEVER the right call and you lose all moral high ground to complain about the jungler's choices in ganking for you or not. By leaving in a huff you are being a massively toxic little baby and doing more to ensure that your team loses than the jungler could EVER do by ignoring your lane. I will report leavers EVERY game, and I consider them the filth of the earth with very rare exception.

SnakDatSmilesBak1 votes

Of course it isn't always the right course of action. But in most cases if an enemy laner is over-extended isn't it the jungler's responsibility to relieve some pressure? Leaving out extenuating circumstances and simply looking at an over-extended laner in a vacuum.

Champion Skin1 votes

Of course it isn't always the right course of action. But in most cases if an enemy laner is over-extended isn't it the jungler's responsibility to relieve some pressure?

Not it isn't.... the thing the jungler should do is whatever is the most efficient use of his time to give as much advantage to his team or as much disadvantage to the enemy as possible.... if that ends up being reliving pressure or not depends a lot on the situation...

If the enemy laner is pressuring the laner but isn't able to dive and isn't able to deny much CS then there isn't much priority in stopping them.... especially if the enemy laner doesn't scale well (since the biggest advantage of killing them would be denying the enemy gold/exp)

The Whamboozler1 votes

Going to another lane and putting pressure there IS relieving the pressure. If the enemy jungler doesn't respond, your team's lane can snowball just as hard as their top lane is. If they DO come to try and stop it, pressure = relieved. Like I KEEP saying. It's situational. Sometimes helping the guy getting camped is the best plan. Sometimes it's not.

But having a tantrum and going afk is ALWAYS wrong and toxic. In fact, raging at your jungler because you're getting camped is a damned fine way to make SURE he decides you're a lost cause and never comes to help you ever. The situation of what to do about a top laner getting camped has a lot of answers. The question of "does a top lane have the right to flame his jungler and afk" has ONE answer.

No.

Automated Riven1 votes

As a riven who has been camped early and gotten fed I wish the jungler would come try to gank for the struggling toplaner. It just gets me a double kill and top tower. Its almost never the right answer to waste resources trying to fix a losing lane. especially if they are down 2+ kills worth of gold. it ususally results in a 1 for 1 or a double for the toplaner. its far better to take a winning lane and win it harder.

SnakDatSmilesBak1 votes

Most of the time a top laner will not be able to 1v2 unless the jungler and top fuck up. I see your point that it's better to get a winning lane farther ahead, but eventually people should come top and take a tower right? Or is it best to leave all the towers in that lane alone?

Automated Riven1 votes

depends on the top lane/ if they have flash advantage. who the enemy toplaner is and how far ahead the winning top laner is. As riven if there is one squishy in the pair If I have ult and flash advantage I am taking at least 1 of them with me. Hell most of the time if I get ganked post six with a squishy jungler (read lee sin or rengar) I am usually taking them down too.

SnakDatSmilesBak1 votes

Also reading the op again reminded me that he said "out of his way." This means that it is convenient and the right thing to do for the jungler to gank but he puts extra effort into not ganking.

So this is a shitter's thinking process...Interesting.

Not warding, not playing safe, not farming towards midgame...Just afking.

Quite interesting, thanks for the insight!

HaIlMonitor4 votes

You dont play top much do you?

SnakDatSmilesBak2 votes

I know what it's like to be in that situation.

I lost lane one time as renekton vs teemo. I fed one kill to teemo, then for the next 15-20 minutes got little farm and lost 2 towers because teemo was literally always standing in front of my tower autoing it or me. If I asked for help it was either met with "stfu you lost lane" or complete silence. We eventually lost the inhibitor in top and still my team left me alone to deal with the now 2 kill teemo and the supers. We lost the game because teemo was given completely free reign to do whatever he wanted. It was literally the most frustrating game I ever played and I know how you feel.

That said, I didn't afk and played the game out and reported my team for refusing to communicate because their refusal honestly cost the game.

That said, a jungle that doesn't pressure a lane that is continuously over-extended does not deserve to call himself a jungler.

Tommy2Toes1 votes

So i play a lot of top, i also play a lot of jungle. When i play top lane i play as if i'm never going to get a gank because if i'm a jungler and the top lane is doing decent then there's no point. If i'm top and i'm getting camped then i'm going to park my butt under the turret and farm away because denying kills is just as good as getting them. I gank when and if a good opportunity arrives. Forcing a gank is just asking for disaster.

The jg isn't there to win your lane for you, he's to help when possible. I don't know how many time's i've gotten a "no gank's gg" when they've given up 4 kills in the first ten minutes just pushing up a lane so far that the turret took them out 2 of the 4 time's. There's no helping that, you'll just give up a double trying to turret dive the enemy.

My moto when jungling is "help me to help you" lol.

SnakDatSmilesBak1 votes

I guess I've been playing jungle wrong because I play to pressure lanes.

Champion Skin1 votes

Well if you don't get anything done top lane you might as well just leave top lane and group up and try and catch someone out (Renekton does at least have a stun) or win a fight 5v4 Or maybe your team is smart and group up they do it around top if that is the most vulnerable lane (and it isn't a bad lane to push in since it is close to baron which is something you can punish with if the enemy goes bot lane and if they go mid that at least isn't that far away from top lane

The Whamboozler2 votes

Unless that lesson is "this top laner is a baby" then no, they won't.

The ideal thing to do with a top laner being camped would be to put pressure mid or bot to punish them for spending all game top. Holding the top laner's hand is NOT the proper response most of the time. If the jungler comes top it's a 2v2 with the enemy team likely already ahead (since they've prob killed the top laner at least once already). That's not ideal. But going bot? Mid? Grabbing Dragons? Counter-jungling? All can be done with ease now that the jungler KNOWS where the enemy jungler is.

So maybe pull your head out of your ass and think about the team, not yourself for a moment. Being camped sucks, but your job isn't to cry for help then blame the jungler if he doesn't. It's to die as little as you can and let your team get things done to make up for you falling behind. Build tanky. Play passive. Try to survive dives. Struggle against the camp as best you can while ENCOURAGING your team's jungler to rip apart mid or bot. If he does a good job the enemy jungler will be forced to leave you be to go try and save those lanes and that will take pressure off of you. Or he'll stay on you anyway and hope his fed top beats your fed bot/mid. Whatever.

The sheer, toxic, self-entitled behavior you are suggesting is EVERYTHING wrong with the game. You're not playing to win. You're playing to PERSONALLY stomp and if you can't, you toss your toys out of the car like a child throwing a tantrum because he wanted the Batman action figure and he got Superman instead. I'm going to take a guess and say you play aggressive, snowbally top laners like Riven, Yasuo and Fizz because you want to be the star of the fucking show, get all the kills, snowball like a mofo and then spam mastery and be a twat. If not, you are MORE Than capable of playing defensively and relying on your utility to front line for your team in midgame teamfights. Stop being a selfish prat and play the game to help the TEAM win... not to bolster your KDA and your freaking ego.

The guy who goes AFK is almost ALWAYS the one in the wrong. You're not EVER validated in giving up the game because something you don't like happened. In fact, the whole reason for this post was likely because you ARE the kind of twat who pulls this toxic, spoiled-brat move in games and you're trying to excuse your shitty behavior. Well there is no excuse. You're just a self-centered asshole. Grow the hell up or go play a different game where you don't have a team, so you have no one to let down with your immature crybaby bullshit.

SnakDatSmilesBak1 votes

What do you do if your opponent is far enough ahead to dive with their jungler and their jungler is top? You can't get farm and you can't defend towers. Do you just continue to forfeit towers?

The Whamboozler1 votes

You give up first tower. If they CONTINUE to camp top, you probably would want to catch them doing so, since they'll be FAR over-extended and it should be easy to collapse on them. That said, it's situational. If you're so far behind that the team can't collapse on them when they push to second tower and kill them quick then the game is probably lost already, but not always. I've seen people shove all the way to base in top then have nothing better to do but keep trying to menace top lane as they repeatedly die to collapses and feed back all the gold that they were formerly ahead by.

In short... it depends. Usually if they're that fed an they already took top tower, they'd do better off roaming and putting that strength into taking other lanes than stomping on the top laner more.

Hell no. As a toplaner myself, it doesnt matter how many times i get dove. its never ok to afk. If they are wasting their time killing my my team should be capping dragons and crossmaping the hell out of them. instead of whining about your jungler isnt wasting his time going to a losing lane you should instead be telling them when the jungle is top so they can get objectives elsewhere. By the way objectives and map pressure win games. If its a 2v1 top then its a 4v3 bot in your favor.

I'm sorry, but someone who Plays JG/Top almost constantly. I am always camped toplane. I get frustrated when I don't get help, but I have yet to threaten to AFK, because I didn't get what I want. Also why would a jungler help a lane that is going 0/5? Helping a dead lane is almost worthless for a JG, it's better to focus on the lanes that are winning, instead of trying to get top to be decent. Rather Snowball Mid or ADC, hell at this point the Support could be more fed then you.
