Unranked matched with higher ELO

Ever since I've reached level 30, I noticed that most of my matches were unfair. The enemy team would have a higher average ELO than my team. Usually, my team is mostly bronze or unranked and the enemy team has at least one silver or higher.

Am I having bad luck or is it that Riot's algorithm considers unranked to be equivalent to silver?

Each game mode has a hidden mmr (matchmaking rating). The system will try to match you with players of similar mmr.

Does this mean that winning games in summoner's rift won't increase your mmr in aram?

That is my understanding, yes.

The difference between a silver player and a bronze player are usually not that large. I honestly feel like I had better teams in Bronze then I did in Silver.

Well Bronze and Silver are almost the same. There is very little difference. Actually , only difference is that Silvers have bigger ego because they arent bronze.
