Gnar in 1v1 is OP?
So I've looked around at a lot of
guides, counters, how to beat, what to build against him, stuff like that, and I want to ask, why hasn't he been nerfed yet?
I was doing a 1v1 with a friend and he picked
. Immediately I knew I was going to be angry at this scumbag for picking a champion who can 1v5, much less 1v1.
Why I'm complaining: Gnar's Kit: Passive:
- Minignar has increased movement speed, attack range, and attack speed per level
- Megagnar has increased health, armor/MR, health regen, and AD per level
So he's **megagnar **with increased all that good defense (oh look a bunch of bonus ad...) for 15 seconds. Some may say thats his weakness because he has less range and movement speed, but is it really?
1. He has a jump that slows on impact and deals bonus damage based on %health (Oh look he has bonus health in **megagnar **form isn't that convenient)
2. a giant boulder that slows, he can pick up and throw again within 4 seconds at max level (no items) and deals a heavy amount of damage plus 120% ad. (That bonus ad is nice isn't it?)
3.and a stun with a large area, can't be stopped, and deals bonus damage based on 100% of his ad. 100% of his ad, not even bonus ad, so this accounts for his MegaGnar passive's ad (Bonus AD again, for more damage while tanky)
4. And his ultimate... Which he can trigger in minignar literally out of no where which means he can jump over a jungle border wall and ult you, you wouldn't be any the wiser. It deals 300 if he hits you against a wall plus 30% of ad. Which he by now has a lot of because of his Megagnar passive. That and it has an 80 second cooldown at max leveled. Darius's ult (which many consider to be very op) has a 100 second cool down at max level, and can't stun an entire team for 1.75 seconds
Now thats just me examining Megagnar. The point behind megagnar was to make him have lots of damage and defense, but at the same time make him slower and have melee range. So a balance to a balance right? WRONG when it is nearly impossible to get away from him, and he can combo you to stun for 2 and a half seconds at level 6, followed up by slow after slow. So since megagnar isn't weak, is minignar?
Minignar has increased MS, AR, AS per level. So lets see if that can be exploited
Q Boomerang Throw: Slows an enemy for 2 seconds at 15% at level one. Moves to make it easy for Gnar to catch, and can penetrate multiple units. Also has the range of 2500 units. That is nearly inhibitor to inner turret. W Hyper: Gnar marks enemies with his auto attacks and damaging abilities, once he gets 3 marks he deals damage according to a percentage of targets Max health and gives Gnar 30% movement speed that decays for 3 seconds. He also gets that bonus after he transforms out of MegaGnar form. So good luck catching him. Oh wait. Did I say 30% movement speed? I meant 45% at level 6, and 75% at level 16 E Hop: Gnar jumps to a location and gains bonus AS for 3 seconds. If he lands on an enemy they are slowed for 60% for .5 seconds. Thats at level one as well. He can also cover double that distance if he lands on any unit. Which includes wards, monsters, minions, and friendly champions if he needs a boost to get an escape
Lets just look at Minignar for a second, imagine he has Berserker's Greaves with Furor and Frozen Mallet. Good luck escaping him because all he has to do is continue to auto you with the occasional boomerang. If you aren't in a position to fight it'll be impossible to run, because he'll just chase you down with hop, his movement speed, and be chucking his boomerang at you the whole time.
Is he easy to gank? Lets say for instance he is at your turret, level three, hitting it away and your jungler comes in to try and help from behind. Well unless he has a target stun Gnar can just jump on top of the jungler, slowing him (adding stack of hyper) and effectively getting away from you and him at the same time. If he really wanted to add insult to injury, he could throw boomerang mid hop and hit you, on its rebound it could hit the jungler, adding the second stack, dealing damage, and slowing some more, and adding in another auto (because he's slowed the jungler so much already) get his movement speed bonus and just run off. He could have a Doran's Blade and still manage to escape pretty easily
I mean does League really think that Gnar is balanced? Sure he gets slower and doesn't have range in big form but he is tankier, has the abilities to keep you slowed/stunned, all while dealing tons of damaged. Yeah, in his mini form he's squishy but whats the weakness in that if he can run away nearly as well as Fizz and his troll pole?
You might say that the benefit to all of that is that he is hard to learn. He really isn't. He's at difficulty level 8. Yasuo is at difficulty level 10. Who gets banned nearly every ranked game? Yasuo. Who nearly never gets banned? Gnar.
Yes. All of this came from a 1v1 with a friend and he decided to choose Gnar. Which made me S-A-L-T-Y. But I want to know is this, why do people think he isn't OP? Please, comment and tell me why you think a champion like this is balanced.
wrecks him hard.
