Riot's mobility creep gets a little stronger.

Ok, so it's been shown that mana mages are basically in the dumps right about now with all the recent changes. And there's no end in sight. Kassadin, veigar, and morde seem to be big targets here, with morde changing for the worse in my opinion. Then you see they are bringing an item in place of dfg to make up for this, but it doesn't explain why it so favors mobile champs that used dfg, and not the less mobile ones.

The whole point was to give a mage back some of the burst it had with dfg, without it being problematic. But it didn't do that. In fact it's more powerful than dfg, assuming you're a mobile mage. And it's just in time for the kassadin nerf, probably the most mobile champion prior. So is the nerf to kassadin their scapegoat to explain they aren't mobility biased? They did nerf akali, but then they made an item that basically replaces the easy double proc of her q. The second they nerf akali, they buff her back up. With the new changes, as pointed out by redmercy, she's even more powerful than before.

What about veigar, what about champs like lux, ziggs, twisted fate anivia. These champs all used dfg, well, maybe not so much tf and anivia. They are all immobile champs. And I wouldn't suspect the new item works on them very much. Now they are making all the tanky jungle characters buffed with the new cinder item, and I start to wonder what it is they have in mind for this year.

I just don't know about riot anymore, and for a long time I was with them. I mean I enjoy change, especially pre-ziggs and lux era. That was ridiculous. So I should be on board for this, but I honestly can't agree with what's going on here.

Aside from the new support looking like an exact replica of what I'd want to see in a champ release, I just can't see a point to all this. I want change to occur for the game, but I can't agree with breaking an entire subset of champions, so much. I mean people play these champions. I play these champs.

120AP and 8% movement speed works well on anyone AP.

Those champions, a side for Veigar, didn't buy dfg, nor do they need it... There is another AP item coming out too. One of the champions you listed isn't really immobile, and the others would be too strong if they were since they provide ranged wave clear, cc, and utility on top of damage.

When I read this title, I imagined Riot gave the scuttle crab a blink, so it was now a mobility creep that's even stronger =D

DFG was a bad build on these champions. Lux is too far away to DFG a bound target. Ziggs doesn't have a burst window to amplify. TF is a Lich Bane user, not DFG. Anivia is too busy worrying about sustaining her mana pool.
