Is anyone else struggling with Ahri now?

After 20 (patch 8.2) games I've noticed my snowball potential has been completely cucked without the old item 3165 morellonomicon's sustain. Now my power spike is barely noticeable. I was just climbing out of silver easily 4 days ago. Since 8.2 its been extremely difficult. All of the AP items are super expensive, and they take forever to farm. The old item 3165 morellonomicon helped me with farming/pushing lanes. It was an essential part of most mage builds. The reworked items are good for damage but what the hell do I build for sustain? What runes do I use? I personally think manaflow just isn't as helpful as ultimate hat, scorch, and gathering storm. I keep losing kills/fights because the enemy just barely survives because I'm still oom even with Manaflow. My usual combos don't work. I've been playing with the items, but nothing feels as comfortable as the old item 3165 morellonomicon quite yet. Everything feels extremely awkward. Can anyone relate? Please don't reply if you aren't playing a mage who uses these items in the in the mid lane during this patch. I need the opinions of someone who has played at least 10-15 games with these new items.

Rush one of these mana items: item 3285 or item 3003 or item 3030

Followed by these depending on what you need: item 3907 item 3089 item 3157

Finish with: item 3165 or item 3135 depending on what the game calls for.

Sample build: item 3285 -> item 3020 -> item 3907 -> item 3089 -> item 3157 -> item 3135

  • Spellbinder acts as the old ludens and is good for bursting down quickly (up to +100 AP active).
  • I found that building deathcap earlier feels better than before considering you're not forced to sit on 3 mediocre items anymore with the recipe change. (Given that your game doesn't call for an earlier zhonya or void staff)

Hmm ill try this build. Ill admit after a few good games with the suggested builds you guys gave me, I was wrong with this post. If anything I feel slightly stronger now. I just had to get over that awkward feeling with the new build.

Yes apparently shes getting a nice buff in 8.4. I think I can climb to at least plat with her. We will see, this my first year of grinding solo q since starting in late s6

The damage went down on those items and the cost is still high(except for deathcap which makes it mandatory now).

The ap changes help reduce snowball and damage on AP champions however the problem is that AD champions still snowball and have high damage output so it makes you feel very weak, especially early game where AD champions still getting their cheap items that do a ton of damage.

I tried both of these builds and they are so good! TY. I got my mojo back, guess it just took me awhile to adjust. Seriously thank you. This advice is exactly what I was looking for.

With more mana, manaflow band will give you more mana.

old morello just gave you more mana on a takedown. If you didnt have enough mana for a kill, before the change, it'd be less likely.

Yeah I guess I relied on that passive a lot more than I realized. I usually get fed pretty early so it helps a lot in fights.
