New Ryze update

So what do you guys think about the new Ryze now that's been out for awhile now? To me, I feel he's very underwhelming. His Q feels out of place now. We have two skills that are targeted single target skills. This means that we don't have to consider what is between us and our target. However that is overridden by the fact his Q, his main damage source, is a skill shot. That means no matter what, for us to put out consistent DPS, we have to make sure nothing is standing between us and the target. Harassing a target in lane can be negated by standing behind minions. Unless Ryze can clear the wave, his opponent is out of position, or getting help from the jungler, I don't see Ryze killing anyone any time soon. He's better off farming at that point. Teamfights, we no longer get to choose who we get to focus, it'll always be whoever is in front of Ryze. Is that really a bad thing? No, not necessarily, just feels very boring and frustrating.
