State of the In-Game Community

Write My thoughts... OK then.

I'm starting with a small example of a recent game I played.

BE ME. normals, 5v5, blind draft. (Apparently blind draft now means "we aren't trying to win")

About 20 minutes into the game, there are no words spoken on my team.

Vlad goes mid and rushes into a 1v5 fight. oops.jpeg

I, being a genuinely concerned teammate/team player, say: "Vlad?"

It quickly dawns on me that this type of concern is not allowed in "we aren't trying to win mode". #bringiton

All 4 players on my team jump high into the air, only to descend down my throat on their way back down to reality.

I got multiple all CAPS messages. A lot of swearing. A lot of accusations saying I'm better than this poor unfortunate Vlad.

Multiple messages saying "ITS ONLY NORMALS. REPORTED. TOXIC. LEAVE HIM ALONE"

I'm confused. So I say: "Sorry I was concerned! Wasn't trying to be rude"

More hate. LOTS of hate. Now its from all chat. Every player in the game.

And I got reported at the end of the game. A message popped up on my screen. "We know everyone has bad days...blah blah blah"

This happens in pretty much every normals game I play. I'm talking like 60-75% of them. You're no longer allowed to try and win, or play as a good team in normals. If you do, people accuse you of hating, and being toxic. Think maybe youll be nice and spread some friendly advice about how to improve in lane or a certain situation? THINK AGAIN. YOU WILL BE REPORTED. I now just go top lane, and don't use the chat anymore. I ping for help when needed, and I ping to alert other players. That is all. I feel distant. I feel like it I want to win, but don't dare say that to my own team. In fact, I have found that the enemy player in my lane IS ALWAYS NICER than the people on my own team. I hope league doesn't die, I love it.
