Frame rate skips when google chrome is open

Frame Skipping on High-End PCs

Not sure if this should be on the Gameplay board or the Report a Bug board.

So fairly recently maybe a few months ago, I can't really remember when it started but when I play league with my google chrome browser open i find my player health bar and character kind of glitching back and forth and a small dip in my frame rate. As the link provided says it's mostly when the screen is locked on the champion.

If i close the google chrome browser the glitching and frame rate dip instantly disappears and sometimes when I open it back up right after closing it it's completely fine. Other times after closing it and opening it up again right after it will still continue to glitch.

I think there are two possible reasons for this but I really don't know if they are the cause of the glitching or not.

  1. League will crash when the words "cheat engine" is anywhere in your google chrome browser. I don't know when this anti-cheat was implemented though as this is a fairly recent issue. But I think this could be an issue because it requires league to constantly check google chrome and/or i believe any other application to see if the text is anywhere to be seen. This could be the issue that causes league to lag and glitch.

  2. This is a long stretch but maybe it has something to do with google chromes hardware acceleration I have had a problem with the hardware acceleration before (only in google chrome though). Where my scrolling on certain web pages would be choppy. Or like twitter my scrolling would stop until I press down on my scroll wheel then press it again then it would be fine for a bit.

If anyone has found a solution/fix for this problem please let me know. Or at least the cause of the issue.

EDIT: Problems after multiple games presisted without opening Google Chrome at all

I'm having a similar problem, I think. I know this thread is a wee bit old, but I'm curious to see who out there is running into problems. I'm running Ryzen 5 2600x, 2070 RTX, 16Gb RAM 3200 Mhz. I have two monitors running and usually Discord and Spotify in the background. Per-usual Mid-High end set up with casual things running in background. Uncapped normally I can run league at ~300 fps. But I play capped at 144 fps, because it shouldn't matter. My problem differs a little bit from the OP, in that, I'll load into a game and notice my fps is at ~100 in fountain. From here I know it is going to get worse, as the game goes on it seems to only get worse. Roughly 25 mins into a game yesterday I hit 29 FPS...like wtf....? But the game before that I ran the whole game at 144FPS with literally zero stuttering. So, I restarted my machine, and boom. Back to 144FPS for the next few games. Then it did it again. Just tanking FPS once a new game started that I loaded in lower than 144FPS. I have been transiently noticing this problem over the last couple months and could not put my finger on it until this morning. Some times when I am loading into a game of league, on my second monitor, I will OP.GG my team in Google Chrome to check out the teams. I also like checking my own stats after a few games into the day. I have not tested it yet, but I'm pretty sure my (significant) frame drops (Uncapped 270 FPS drop) is from running Google Chrome and league at the same time. Anyone confirm this? Or similar issues?
