The new Rift Herals will be unhealthy.

Snowballing will be just crazy. First blood turret and dives will be too easy. I mean you know how weak towers are at the moment. If you have a fucking Yorick with rift herald its gg top lane.

Rift Herald isn't end-all-be-all.

It can be stunned, snared, and knocked back and retains it's vulnerable eye spot.

Herald does not attack champions.

If an enemy champ attacks you, the turret will still prioritize the champion over Herald.

Don't get me wrong, Herald is becoming more powerful, but in a good and balancable way. It's becoming something you actually care about. Snowbally is what Rift Herald currently is because it's so punishing that only a winning team can even try to secure it, but with this there will be more counterplay against a team that did secure Herald.

Herald also deals little damage towards turrets and lacks attack speed.

Her 'charge' does a lot of burst to the tower but you're right, she doesn't deal a terribly high amount of damage to the tower and does indeed lack a way to boost her AS.

That team is actually a fairly good teamfighting comp. As long as they get the ADC they win.

Meh. Yorick's got a nice engage. Protobelt in Annie is legit too. Morde can always flabk as well. And as long as they're not against a poke/disengage comp, they'll be fine.

Spoofghoul1 votes

good thing then that the game is won by killing the towers inhibs and then nexus

team fighting can help and this comp is good at it too

but team fighting isn't necessary at all in order to win the game If this runs down your lane with herald you will lose the entire lane before you killed them all

in which case they would have gained as much gold as you did + map control

worst case you couldn't kill them and they keep pushing down all the way to your nexus

Yes you can stun him and then get dove by the enemy top laner who will destroy you while you tried to stop rift herald, or you can stun the top laner and lose your turret. Do you seriously not see what is wrong with that? Did you see the video of it doing half health to the first tower with his charge? That thing is absolutely broken and shouldn't exist. The towers have get seriously hardcore buffed to justify that thing.

Variks the Loyal1 votes

Yes, I did, and I also saw the really low attack speed and low damage she does with subsequent attacks.

If the enemy top laner dives you, it'll be the exact same as if minions were there. The tower will attack the top laner and you can fight back.

Moreover, you could have contested the Herald because it's still just as difficult to fight in it's pit as it was before.

It's not broken, you just fear change. Which is okay, but when the dust settles you'll realize Rift Herald, while surely gaining a boost in power as it's intended to, isn't nearly as powerful as you thought it would be.

There's a difference with that thing, as I mentioned if you don't stun it or cc it otherwise you will lose your tower, if you cc it you risk getting killed by the enemy top laner, and not to mention if the enemy laner dives you with his jungler, you will get killed while that thing demolishes the tower. That's the difference between it and a minion, and it does deal decent damage after, especially if you're too busy trying to survive against the enemy who coordinated with it to attack you, and that will happen a lot, you will lose 2 towers after 1 dive of the enemy top laner and jungler.

If the enemy laner can kill you under your turret because you don't have one CC, the herald is not the problem

Out of all I wrote you could only make a counterargument on that? I'll answer but it seems like we're done. It actually could be the thing that is crucial on you winning the trade, also if you're getting dived by the enemy top laner and jungler, as I mentioned already but you chose to ignore it.

I predict Heimerdinger top is going to be obscene. Nonstop pushing you to your turret until it falls, then soloing rift herald by using turrets to juggle aggro. Fuck.

TimX24968B1 votes

he's needed a nerf for a while, but his playrate hasn't brought him up enough for it.

YoungSirJ0ey4 votes

No, he hasn't. He's kinda terrible. You just live in Bronze, where snowballing and splitpushing are even more stupid, and Heim is a massive lane bully. Believe me, I know that feel, I live there too.

TimX24968B1 votes

I feel like he would be super strong in a diver meta, though.

YoungSirJ0ey2 votes

I mean, maybe, but we've got at least half a year until that's likely.

Handy Sandy 2 votes

I honestly don't know what Riot's thinking, why not just nerf drakes instead of giving us another thing to fight over. The 4 man bot tower dive into FTB is already a problem that created the whole AdcsIn2017 but now you can dive any lane with ease, or at least take the first turret faster leading to a global snowball.

The Rift Herald now drops the Herald’s Eye as she retreats into the Void, lasting in your inventory for a few minutes and granting Empowered Recall while held. Using the eye before it expires summons the Herald back to the Rift under your team’s banner, sending her down the nearest lane as a structure-smashing siege engine. She says hello by ramming into buildings from a distance, dealing massive damage. From there, she’ll steadily smash it to rubble before moving onto the next objective down the lane.

For opponents, fighting the Herald in lane is similar to fighting her in the pit - she’s still tanky as heck, so poking her in the eye is still the fastest way to get her gone. There are a few differences to be aware of, though. First, she no longer has an interest in fighting champions. While this means she doesn’t hit back (careful for AoE damage, though) it also means you won’t be able to deter her from her demolition work. Second, summoning sickness has left her vulnerable to crowd control. Everything from Dark Binding to Howling Gale to Headbutt will do the job of keeping her off your stuff. Finally, Herald’s damage in lane is directly tied to her health. Take every opportunity you can to whittle her down.

Rift Herald now drops the Herald's Eye item when defeated. Use the eye before it expires to bring Rift Herald back as a structure-smashing siege engine.

As an ally, Rift Herald will push down the nearest lane, reducing enemy buildings to rubble unless forcibly stopped. Fighting against her in lane is similar to fighting her in the pit - poke her in the eye to send her crying home to the Void.

I'd take a wild guess and say that towers are getting buffed, so if they do then it might even out this change a bit more

but if they aren't then yeah this update will be broken.

Oh great now there'll be players making more stupid decisions just like baron, because they'll feel the need to do so.

Just killed enemy laner time to do herald while im below half HP and dies to herald or enemy jungler.

Hey ill ping my jungle to help me with herald, and they both die to enemy jungler and/or mid.

ah, good ol' bronze...

TimX24968B1 votes

last time i checked, you weren't in charge of deciding what makes this game "healthy" and what doesn't. That's up to riot.

Scary Door2 votes

Last time I checked this was a forum where people discussed gameplay ideas and opinions and in the opinion of the OP----as well as many others---the new Rift Herald is unhealthy.

TimX24968B1 votes

thats because you haven't found a way to deal with it/combat it/counter it.

Scary Door5 votes

Comments like yours are frustrating because they are simplistic replies to broader problems that you are either refusing to address or incapable of comprehending (or of course you're just trolling).

Rift Herald in it's new iteration is unhealthy because:

  • Adding more snowball mechanics to an already snowball heavy game only favors the team that's ahead and, thus, furthers the frustration of being behind.

  • Towers are weak enough as is, now add to the mid a PvE siege unit that shreds them quickly.

  • It opens up other objectives such as Dragon and pushing other towers without having to interact with your opponents.

  • It will synergize with certain comps to the point where some champions who may be fringe picks will now be completely worhtless. Siege heavy comps will be the meta inevitably.

  • Split pushing gets a big boost while team fighting takes a hit.

  • How is introducing more PvE beneficial to a PvP game?

So explain how one simply "deals with, combats or counters" that. Even if you're the team that's ahead and using the Herald, is it really that fun to just send a unit down the lane for a guaranteed tower or, at the very least, the assurance that you have now put hte enemy team on the ropes?

TimX24968B1 votes

So explain how one simply "deals with, combats or counters" that.

I didn't say that was my job, it would be figured out eventually. Not to mention begging for everything to be fixed constantly is much more unhealthy rather than learning to adapt and overcome.

This is how metas change and evolve

Scary Door2 votes

I'm not begging for anything, I'm just saying the new Rift Herald is unhealthy and gave pretty solid reasons why that is, but you decided to ignore that.

TimX24968B1 votes

calling it unhealthy seems to be begging for changes...

Keevalroy1 votes

So because Daddy Riot said something is fine, that makes it fine?

Alrighty then...

TimX24968B1 votes

well it is their game and their philosophy of how it should be...

Keevalroy1 votes

And when their philosophy and asinine additions to the game are utterly retarded, we're to bend over and accept - no, thank them for the progress, even when it's obvious there's glaring flaws the devs are too proud to admit?

Yeah no thanks. When they lie, spew contradictions and hypocrisy, put their arrogance on full display, and shut out the world when they're criticized - shoving poorly received ideas through the door anyway regardless of feedback or warnings, then their philosophy is flawed and broken if their aim is to be the most player-focused company in the games industry.

TimX24968B1 votes

not sure what their aim is, but my guess is there's alot more to it and to consider when talking about them being the most "player focused", especially with such a wide range of players and playstyles.

ManiacalCoyote1 votes

It's to make the game more entertaining for the spectators, not the players.

#LC$PLAYS

TimX24968B1 votes

But thats really only at the LCS level.

Imo Rift herald might make splitpushing champions less desired.

or make them broken with it.

I think the biggest problem with it will be making it worth the effort to take and time spent while also making it not be op.
