Aatrox Q shouldn't be pulled mid flight by an axe sweeping the ground. I shouldn't be knocked down when I'm high in the air and a sejuani charges below me. But he does, and I do.
It's awkward to say, but League only has two coordinates, you can call it 2D if you wish. Basically, when a character "jumps" on the battlefield, he's basically just moving with a different animation and some shadows, upgrading a game from 2D to 3D is a rather impossible task, so they kept it like that. I wouldn't mind though having some sort of statis effect against traps when flying mid-air, that could be a solution.
