Yasuo's "Q" ranged BASIC attack not blocked by Jax Counter Strike

I've played Yasuo and read his "Q" as a "ranged basic attack" and I've played Jax in a blind pick against a top Yas, I figured since my "E" says "dodges all basic attacks" it would be fine, but I guess since Yas' "Q" hits multiple targets it's counted as Aoe? This really confused me and I wanted to see what people's thoughts were on this. I still won lane, but it was beyond my expectations and it was pretty confusing since it says "ranged BASIC ATTACK."
