If they have the same items i'd probably give it to jax since he can dodge some of the true damage autos and ramps up his strength the longer he lasts in the fight.

It goes either way in the mid game, unless someone came out ahead early game. Late game is the same story. The biggest factor in this matchup is that both champs are mechanically intense in the timing and execution of abilities. So, whoever is the better skilled mechanical player will come out on top in this matchup.

Jax wins duels after level 11. early game its irelia but still 50/50. late game however not much of a chance to irelia. he does more damage than her to tanky bruisers because his damage is mixed. and his E will have very low cd as he will get 40% cd
