Oppressive Champ/Mastery combos.

I have been playing normals lately to get a little practice on some different champions, but I am noticing a LOT of AP champs going ad fervor/bloodlust top lane, and building AD.

This is fun sounding and all, but there are some that make the game feel REALLY oppressive. For instance:

Leblanc: with 20%+ CDR and Fervor in lane building AD- If you try to duel her, she distortions away. As you turn to back away, she distortions back you, getting a few autos off, and potentially a chain that will CC you, allowing for MORE fervor stacks, and leaving you limping away horridly. Even if you sit back, she can still do her basic poke combo, doing a bit less damage because of being the AD build, but still able to poke down. Mind you, she does this while expelling HARDLY any mana after like level 4. Also, if she manages to do her root combo, you're most likely going to be getting a second lashing of fervor stacks as she combos a second chain from her ultimate.

This is just one of the examples of the "new" (AP)AD assassin crossbreeds plaguing the Rift.

Just had a bard as well last game with Bloodlust, some concept. It really is unsettling.

I would like the thoughts of others on this matter.

I don't find this to be a particular problem, honestly. In top lane, a lot of people I know have the same problem if they are up against a more common top lane champ with range, such as Vayne, Quinn, or Teemo. It's not the fact that the champ is an AP mage that makes them so difficult to deal with. It's just laning against a champ that can poke you from range when you're a melee champ. I mostly queue for mid/top, and I know the top lane matches I hate most are the ones were I pick a melee champ and find myself dealing with Quinn/Teemo and am reduced mostly to hiding under my turret waiting until they leave or make a mistake.

Edit: So my basic point is, I don't think it's the AP abilities that are the issue. It's just the range vs. non-range difficulties. Being up against an ADC in the top lane would probably be worse in many cases since they actually scale better with AD.

I was actually meaning more-so the AP casters that have an abundance of CC/mobility going an AD route. Certain champions are DESIGNED to be hybrid, but they don't really excel in one or the other, but are good at both. There is no reason for an AP with a ton of mobility/cc (i.e Leblanc) to be able to benefit greatly off of what SHOULD be an AD scaling skill.

Fervor of Battle: Each stack of Fervor adds 1 - 8 (based on level) AD for a maximum of 8 - 64 (based on level) AD

I don't think that it should be a flat amount of damage for EVERYONE, regardless of spec. It gives range characters way too much leniency in damage trades.

I get that. And I'm not saying you're wrong per se. I'm just saying that I don't think it's the champs that are the problem. It's more about the range. Yes, dealing with a leblanc AD in top lane can be infuriating. But probably no more infuriating than a Vayne, Quinn, or Teemo. Vayne and Teemo can be downright oppressive in top lane if you're not ranged, and Vayne's abilities scale better with the AD she's building too. If I am lucky enough to see my top lane opponent pick a ranged champ, I always try to pick someone ranged in response. Because otherwise, it's going to be a frustrating lane.

Let us agree to disagree in this regard, because in no way did I mention that the reason I felt oppressed was simply due to their range. It was because of LB's CC/Mobility combined with how the mastery works.

Fair enough. I wasn't trying to argue. I know you didn't mention the range. I pointed it out because I felt it was the more compelling reason that the matchup was difficult. I was only offering an alternate viewpoint.

The thing is, if AP casters with CC or mobility go for an ADC build, they're still sub-par ADC, and they don't have the burst that AP casters get with their normal build. It's kinda oppressive in laning phase, but if you don't let them snowball, it's plain bad as soon as skirmishes and team-fight starts. Especially if they're playing that sh*t Top, and their team has no front-line at all due to that.

Hum, I'm a Top lane main and I've not encountered that recently. This is a well known cheese build, but it's just that, a cheese. Never been played seriously until now. Also works with Thresh same as Bard (both have on-hit attack enhancers), and with Ahri same as LeBlanc (both have the tactical mobility that pseudo-ADC love).

How often and in what skill range have you seen that?
