Possible Shen changes

So as I looked through Surrender at 20, I saw the post concerning changes to Aatrox and Shen. As Shen is one of my most favorite champs, I took interest and I read on. On the basis of Meddler's comments

In terms of fixing him at this point I'd be really hesitant to just try and make him into a fighter, that'd require we stripped off an awful lot of what makes Shen Shen.

I have a few ideas that could be a work around. For example an update to Shen's Shen feint ability. Instead of just a shield how about a leap into the air, kind of like Gnar or Jax, but no invulnerability like playful trickster, since that's too op, as Shen is already tanky. Upon landing, Shen could maybe do some damage on a target, or have some sort of aoe slow or a stun on the target marked with vorpal blade. That might give him a little edge as a fighter, but doesn't take away from Shen's ninja aesthetics. Please give some input, thanks

I'd take anything in place of feint, it is literally the weakest shield in game, and most useless ability for a energy champ with such high cost and cooldown. Also, it's the one ability that makes shen boring :(

I have 3 ideas for Feint, #1 is an Offensive approach, #2 is a Defensive approach and 3 is a Utility-wise approach.

  1. When're shen's shield has been broken, he gains the ability Crescent Blade- That deals 50% of the shields strength as magic damage in a 115 degree cone with a 375 range and silences all targets struck for 1.25 seconds. (Similar Chogath silence.)
  1. Passive- Self Healing- Shen gains 20/40/60/80/100% of his Base Health Regen. Active- Shen's passive is doubled and he gains a shield absorbing 65/110/155/200/245 +65% AP or 15% Max Armor.
  1. Shen gains 0/5/10/15/20% chance to block a basic attack every 3 attacks. On active shen becomes stealth and his next basic attack will stun a target for 1.25 seconds.

I think Rito should add some sort or passive buff or aura to his Ult, when leveling or successfully completing "Stand United" like 10/15/20% increased armor, magic resist and ability power or so etching along those lines. That way he need not rely on feint for defense and this ability can be switched to 1 of my suggestions. I also like your suggestion but remember shen is a tank so he has to have someway to successfully tank damage, weather it be healing, damage mitigation, damage reduction or defensive stat buffs, so your "Leap" idea sounds like a very unlikely change for shen.

Also I was in that Aatrox discussion xD

One of the bigger problems I have with Shen early game is his dmg output, especially on minions. If the champion your laning against counters Shen with early game power or superior range/poke if forces you to take refuge under the turret. Last hitting minions under the turret early game is nearly impossible.

Go flat AD marks and quints and flat armor seals and glyphs. (Taking Mr glyphs is a waste of time) then go 9/21/0 for some attack speed and more ad. Start game with item 1028 a d 2xitem 2003

I see what you mean. But then again, if you come across a Teemo/Lulu/Vlad/etc without MR they will steamroll you.

I have yet to buy MR glyphs, yet i steamroll Teemo evertime. My passive and auto attacks was enough to get him extremly low, taking a point in shadow dash i was able to deny him escape and pick up first blood, without even having to use my ignite :3 [i got fb twice against laning a teemo] the last teemo got i face killed me first due to "poke and run" but i still managed to get kills on him. (note though at lvl 6 get red trinket because his shrooms will be the death of you).

Sadly i have yet to face Lulu or Vladmir as Shen. Infact i know little of lulu. But i have done my research on vlad because his playstyle looks too awesome. Shen needs a strong early, 1 kill and avoid dying while farming as much cs as you can will go a long way. The reason i say armor glyphs is because all champs do physical damage on basic attacks and the chances your lane opponent will do significant magic damage is 3/10. Armor block dmg from minions, monsters, turrets, auto attacks as well as ad spells. That's why if you are ever unsure of your lane opponent start with ruby and farm poke, keeping river warded of gank. All mages have little to no lane sustain with exceptions of heimer and vlad, most of them run on mana and have to leave lane (except vlad again xD). But very few champs can 1v1 shen.
