Jungle changes all the time

Idk if it s just me but I m getting really sick of the contant jungle changes.... I m obviously jungle main so this might be a little biased oppinion but doesn t anyone else feels like it s getting really ridiculous how 1 role gets changes almost like every 2nd patch and huge reworks each season while every other role get only changes like few new items?

To be honest the cross-season changes doesn t bother me that much because I m aware riot has to keep the game "fresh". But there are patches like 8.11 that completely shift the meta for no obvious reason.... With the last update Riot just trashed half of the viable junglers only because they can t keep up with clear, while introducing other totally ridiculous jungle picks for the opposite reason - like talyah who has great clear therefore became super viable for jungling.

What are your thoughts on this ? I m curious especially about jungle mains, because I personally feel really frustrated r.n.

I hate the changes. Oh, how I hate them.

A simple -4% to all Jg camps experience would have been enough to make lanes happier because it would've been enough to force an extra camp to reach 3 at the same time as solo lanes.

But no. The experience jungle receive is the same as a Support at this point.

So, the jungle, now more than ever before, depend entirely on their team to not feed the opposing team multiple kills in the early game. Otherwise, the jungle are forced into the lanes even earlier to provide damage control rather than "farm up" to help lower the deficit between teams.

The changes did nothing to prevent early ganks. Red is all you need for an early gank. All the changes did was turn the jungle into an assassin support role.

Maybe that's why I see Pyke in the jungle all the freaking time! But that's another topic.

And people who still play jungle play like they want the game over as quickly as possible by appearing and reappearing in lanes repeatedly within the first ten to fifteen minutes of the game. And they keep up on farm by taxing their lanes so that they don't have to be bothered with taking monster aggro for minimal returns on experience.

As for jungle items themselves, people are hardly rushing them anymore. Instead, I see people finishing their Trinity Force or Titanic Hydra or Gunblade or BotRK before they so much as consider investing in Chilling or Challenging Smite. Why bother, right? 2x next to nothing experience in the jungle is still next to nothing. May as well work on something that can make an impact in enemy engagements since jungle tools are made less effective by the changes.

And routes for clears are just awful with all the focus shifted onto scuttle. It used to be something I'd kill after a few camps to heal off it so I could continue my farming.

But now my 1st clears are basically this.

Red then Blue then Scuttle near Blue then I walk through mid without even ganking unless the enemy is so far out of position for me to do it.

Why the detour through mid? Because, at that point, I can siphon some experience off enemy minion deaths that I reach 3 without needing to take out another camp.

I try to take the second scuttle if the enemy hasn't taken it already then I move onto the lesser camps. I go Krugs then Raptors then Wolves then Gromp. At which point I make my first back.

this... i dont follow your ruote but i always detour thru a lane to hit lvl 3 so i can safely to the rest of my camps. its only 1-2 minions.

i have ganked top pre lvl 5 more times in patch than i have the entire rest of the year.

not becuase i came to gank.. but becuase i came for exp and somtimes if i arrive at the ideal time i can force a summoner off as laner. or even rarer cases get a kill or assist

It is ridiculous they would change it mid season or totally screw jungle up (see scuttle crab change for reference) this badly where diversity is killed, people creating different methods to deal with messed up jungle as your Taliyah reference or the yi/taric, twitch/kayle funneling they mention.

The diversity killing mechanism known as scuttle crab created unfortunate side effects and 3 things are happening, riot is refusing to back down and revert the change, jungle mains are quiting (creating autofill jungle which some laners do not like) and it is creating funneling to make up for screwed up jungle killing some solo laners causing them to complain (see threads etc).

Seriously if you are going to make a big change to role like this do it in preseason so people can adapt and learn a new role (as jungle is different pre 8.10 and dead imo)

I've been a jungle main since I started playing in 2013 and honestly I don't think it is that bad. The initial changes this midseason were really hard and I felt under leveled all the time but with the small adjustments I feel like I'm back on track (I can hit 5 for my second buff spawn).

Yes scuttle is important but if I'm playing a jungler who doesn't fight very well lvl 2 I don't feel too punished for going for a full clear instead or doing a different path like blue -> gromp -> bot side scuttle -> red and going for the less fought over scuttle.

I agree that we have a little less impact on the early game than we did a couple of patches ago but I don't think it's unreasonable. We used to hit lvl 3 when half the laners were still lvl 1 which is inherently broken in my opinion because getting ganked so early on in the game can completely destroy your chances in lane.

Our overall early power has been reduced but after the small changes they have made (to fix the initial xp and scuttle changes) I feel like we have a reasonable impact on the game and reasonable clear options.

The jungle barely changed for over a year then had a huge exp change just 2 patches ago... what are u talking about.

One thing about jungle that never changes is we are always to blame for anyone dying at any point in the game.

Never changes.

Yeah im sick of it too. I hate it so much that i literally have to re-learn almost everything about the jungle every 2nd patch.

The problem is that the champs that were already strong (high burst AD champs with high mobility) were already ruling jg, and anything slower/tanky or anything AP was just getting bent over. Now it is even worse. The small pool of viable champs just got even smaller. There are so many champs I used to take into jungle that isnt even possible anymore. Then add in all the emphasis on stupid stuff liek scuttle and the whole enemy tema is in your jungler. If you playanything that is not a top dueler you just get rolled by a good team. It is far too easy to put a jungler behind right now.
