  1. People can be very decisive in what champions they should pick to fill out proper team comps. They're not those douchy idiots who always insta-lock Yasuo in whatever comp & role they're in.

  2. Sure, they can lock in first. But they could risked having a sudden short 10 second loadout & won't have enough time to set their Runes.

  3. (Blind Pick) There are chances that they joined the chat late, calls the role & would choose to not lock in & shows respect to those who actually calls first.

  4. (Draft Pick) There are few reasons why they usually pause in-between picking their champions:

  • If the enemy doesn't show their lane champions first, your teammate has to be extra careful on what he should pick whilst being risked of getting countered.

  • If the enemy DOES show their lane champions, your teammate may still need some time to think about picking a counter, as the enemy may be either strong against their own counters OR intends to flex his pick between other roles.

Eg. Enemy picks Ryze which your teammate thinks he's going Mid, so he picks a Mid counter. Unfortunately, the Ryze pick was intended for top lane & ended up being countered back.

But sure, maybe your response is "BuT I dOn'T dO dAt tO bEcOmE pLat". Newsflash, we're not you.

i agree. allot of time i get matched with people wont even select a champ until last 10 seconds. like hello? select a champ so that you will be forced to auto lock and not piss off people for dodging. "but i was setting my runes" you have 90 fucking seconds! runes should not take more than 30 seconds, giving you 60 to pick a damn champ. while people want you to pick roles and what not, champs take priority over roles. if you dont pick a lane you can improvise. if you don't pick a champ you are forced to dodge. it pisses me off that a person calls a lane but will not pick a champ until last 10 seconds.

I often check stats for lane matchups when it's my turn to select. I try not to take the whole time, but a game is 30+ minute investment. I'd rather take the extra 20 seconds to give myself the best chances possible.
