Plat 5 player. My MMR dropped to like low gold at the end of ranked because I'm one of those scumbags that's happy with mediocrity and just wants the border to match my Warden Jax skin (I know it's ugly I just hope one day they update him from an eggplant into an actual champion and it becomes cool). Anyways, I went 8-2 in promos and got placed in Gold 2. I was like hmm.. okay that's a little high I probably should have been placed lower in gold. That's fine. I'm playing and winning and I'm Gold 1 in no time. I hop on league, and Riot says 1 more placement. I go in and win in 26 minutes with a score of 12/1/8 (Yeah, I know. Pantheon takes such skill much wow lel). They place me Silver 4.

I haven't been Silver in 3 years. Why Rito :[ [zombie-brand-mindblown]

EDIT: Also cool story, went 24/8/9 Jax in previous game of ranked and then 10/6/10 Jax prior to that. It's possible I was playing vs Silvers (I don't ever get that fed as Jax in gold/plat games lol..) despite my gold ranking so maybe they placed us higher while having our MMR low so that when they fixed the placement our MMR didn't change and it made us look worse? Idk..

So a Plat player who hasn't been Silver in 3 years goes essentially 9-2 in promos and gets placed Silver 4? Mind you, I haven't placed in Silver in a few years as well.. That post doesn't explain it properly at all. He's stating the obvious. The problem is, they didn't do it properly and haven't explained it well.

You said yourself your mmr was down to low gold at the end of season, and the mmr they use is usually around a tier below where you ended.

If you did your placements (which are not promos) prior to the mmr fix, they don't actually impact your placement since you got reverted to your proper start-of-preseason mmr, and placed according to that.

Because of the MMR mismatch in Flex Queue, you got reset to the original starting point (pre placements). But remember this is only Preseason, the rank you accomplish now WILL BE RESET AGAIN! The rank you get in preseason does only influnece the placement in Season 7 to a SMALL extend! (only your starting point in season 7 is affected by Preseason ranks) Sidenote: 1-2 Tier drops are completely normal in preseason.

I.E.: You were Plat 5 at the end of the season, were placed high Silver after placements, now got placed low Silver. If you now climb to Plat again, you will then only be placed in low Gold at the start of Season 7!

So dont worry to much about the current placement!
