Best way to use Kog'maw?

I main Kog'maw adc, and I've had trouble sometimes farming, I started to think it's that i'm not very good, after taking a break from him, and trying out other adcs such as Vayne, and Ashe I realized it was a bit easier for my early game to farm up. Then when I returned to back to Kog'maw I encountered the same problem, I would get poked like crazy, and enemy teams support would harass me constantly. Anyone have any advice? I change builds every so often at the start of a game, with Phage being first, Phantom Dancer sometimes, or Bork, neither solution is always perfect obviously, I'd just like some advice. KogMaw

Kog's base AD stat is below average but he has one of the best AS base stat (I think only Vayne is better). In lane you want to just last hit so AD is more important than AS. ( I know with higher AS it makes your animation a bit more smoother but AD will still help you a lot more than AS).

If you use AD marks and AD qunits but start with a long sword you will get 25 bonus AD (instead of dorans blade and AS quints). This will help you with last hitting minions.

With this set up you won't be able to trade or go all in with the enemy lanner. If the enemy lanner is too aggressive, you can turn on your W which gives you more attack range allowing you to stay out of the enemy's attack range. Your W has pretty low mana cost and cost cool down that you can use it often. This should allow you to last hit even under tower.

Your first item should have AD on it like phage or vamp scepter which will help you with last hitting more. After you completed your first item (trinity or botrk) you should rush attack speed items like boots, or hurricane, or wits end, or rage blade. Since your base AS and scaling are so good, even without AS runes, your attack speed will be on par with the enemy adc.

TLDR: In lane play passive with your W. Use AD marks and AD quints. Start with Long Sword.

Thank you, I'll attempt using the long sword as my first item.
