Climbing Bronze = Luck or Skill?
After unsuccessfully trying carrying my bronze teammate way too many times, im starting to think winning a bronze game is more about luck than skill. I'm just carious about what everyone else thinks.

I did not vote because I believe it is both. Some people in Bronze have that I dont give a fuck attitude.....especially when they reach B5 0LP. The slightest thing can tilt them and they give no shits about intent feeding or anything else that can cause you to lose because they have nothing to lose. Actions that the best carries in Bronze can not overcome. You also have those players who are very skilled and just decide to throw the game because their team is not preforming how they think they should....i have seen this also. The game could have been winnable but the best player on the tam decided to intent throw and feed because they was made at the players not preforming good. So it is not just always games lost to bad players, afks and such.
Also bad pays happen on every level. I was watching a a QTpie stream just yesterday. The account he was on is in Master Class and they had a Jax on their team that thought it was best to keep pushing for the teir 2 tower instead of backing to defend the base that the enemy was in........he did not back until after 1 nexus tower was down and the other was half health........soon as he got back he jumped in and died. They also had a Miss Fortune on their team who would run up to the enemy like she was a melee champ or maybe she thought she was Amumu because she would run right to the middle of the fight and then ult and die right as she started her ult.
I was realy shocked to see play like this on such a high level, it wasnt just those 2 instances either...they made weird and bad plays all game. Maybe they were just boosted accounts....and if thats the case then it just shows why boosting is bad, but thats another topic.
skill of course
you're saying luck because you can get idiot teammates right? well they chances the enemy has idiot teammates is higher than your team (if you're not an idiot yourself) since they have 5 random players and you have 4 (or even less if you're with friends who also might not be total shit)

So you just said "skill of course" as if luck was not a factor, while stating exactly how it can be luck based as well. If the enemy has the chance for "bad luck" like you do, it is still luck based. Luck is luck, regardless of the percentage.

actually you can be the idiot
way to many diamond+ players in the past have done b5 to X level plat or higher. It is all about skill. Most bronze players are not as good as they think or as informed as they think.
This causes a people to assume they are being held back.
Tha t just shows they way outclassed bronze players and can solo carry. A silver level player would have a harder time
Sure a harder time but it proves skill does allow to climb. Also silver players are not great to start with. Low silver is still the average player base and has a huge skill pool. i never said it was easy but that skill is the diving force.
The problem is that their should be a rank between silver and bronze. Riot has said (years ago, dont ask for source) that the skill gap between low bronze and low sliver is huge. Silver 5 Bronze 1/2 could be its own division. So you have to make huge improvements to climb from b5.

or because the banning system or lack their of has you playing with trolls and afks most games.
The banning system removes accounts from the game.
If you want to argue that the banning system does not work, you need more than your personal experience. Just cause bronze players are bad does not mean they are not trying.
You should know this, you are bad and claim to try all the time.

Am I bad? At some parts yes, I just can't carry.
It's skill, but at the same time, even a moderately high level player will struggle if they don't adapt their play style to the fucking ridiculous clown fiesta that is bronze.
Against all reason, when I was re ranking this account, I found it easiest to carry myself on full tank top laners or junglers. Even junglers who, at higher levels, I build damage like Jarvan or Vi, I win way more if I just rush a dead man's plate and cinder hulk at those low levels.
The reason being, the enemy aren't farming well and they're too stupid not to fight you, so if you are simply ready at all points in the game to fight them, you can get insanely fed to the point where all 5 of the enemy simply can't stop you doing whatever you want.
But that was me in Silver, not bronze, but same deal. Bronze is just silver to the nth degree.
Luck. Most Plat can't win several games in a row in Bronze. It's all luck .
What`? I'm pretty sure I could stomp my way out of there

latest guy is 4-4. That's not great.
Well, but that was no bronze game fellow bronzie

People can downvote this all they want, but I've seen multiple pros saying how bronze was the hardest from Bronze to Plat to carry out of (making new accounts) because the skill was so low and the range of skill wasn't always "bronze", so there was a lot more luck involved at times. Not saying they didn't still stomp through comparitively speaking.

like I have said, I never seen any Plat or Diamond carry out of Bronze.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say I've never seen them carry out of Bronze, but I've seen it stated multiple times over multiple years that Bronze was the hardest to carry out of, but not because of skill level, but because of the randomness involved (And yeah, the low skill level was a factor).

By this statistic i should be in master. The highest i've ever been in was silver 2 and i started in bronze 5 this season. I usually carry the shit out of my games and i can go on 5-6 game winning streaks.
In general when playing solo queue, and you are only a little better than the rest (think silver 3 in bronze game), you have to rely on getting good teammates thus luck.
if you are way better, think gold+ in a bronze game, it's about skill.
this applies to every ELO, low diamonds will struggle in platinum ,etc..
Climbing Bronze = Lack of Skill
Luck, only luck, if you got normal team - you win. Got afk/feeder/troller/unskilled you loose
Skill in the sense that you have to be skilled enough to solo carry your team. Luck in that if you don't have the mechanical prowess then you must rely on luck or getting boosted
its really depends... if you ARE bronze or low silver and you dont HAVE the skill to carry, then its luck,
but if u are actaulyl mid silver or higher, you wont need any luck and its skill
Not in Dynamic Q, their it all depends on how many teammates their on voice chat. Rotations are litterly a nightmare with no communication. The meta itself doesn't really help with that. Than you have the roles that not have the same impact they used to be.

well i wasn't talking about dynamic que... ranks means nothing with dynamic que.
Both.
This isn't just Bronze though, this is ranked as a whole. On one account I EASILY climbed to Gold from great teams, maybe 1-2 afks at most, and I breezed through. Yet, one my other account, I'm pushing through silver on almost double the games and running into a larger amount of toxicity, and people wanting to just surrender before 10 minutes.
You 100% need the skill part, but you equally have to deal with luck as well.
Have you considered the idea that you're unskilled?
it's a little of both I guess
There's definitely some luck involved - as with all ranked matches but if you have the skills you can carry anyone out of bronze or yourself. I've done it several times to where I'm confident it's possible.
i would go with a combo as well as your role. luck because afk/feeders/trolls, skill because it's just partially skill, role because support(and in a way jungle) are somewhat dependent on others to not feed/be competent/they can't always carry depending on champ
Ignore the 0/0/0 Lux game, it was a 4v5 so we remade and the Kat game (I'm bad and was against syndra, okay?), but if this is any indication, I started from the very bottom of Bronze V and made it to my current promos to Bronze II and I think it's skill over luck. Sure you'll get bad teammates, but if you're able to work together with your team, make the right decisions, you can definitely carry yourself out.

^ 4v5 as of the 5 minute mark until their Ekko ragequit about the 50-ish minute mark, but still, we managed to teamfight just right, picking off the carries, taking objectives, warding and making sure not to do stupid fights. Patience, not flaming your teammates, and trying your best even when you think you might lose are pretty good traits to have when climbing.
In my time in this hellhole of a division, I learned a lot and try to apply that to every game I play. If you can be nice and keep a cool head, you can find that the climb isn't as treacherous as people make it out to be. stonewall008 and gbay99 give great advice when it comes to dealing with ranked.
You can't carry every game.
Carrying is part of it, but allowing your teammates to carry when they clearly can is also part of it.
Part of it is also losing games that are unwinnable. Be the difference in the games that lie in the middle between those, and the ones that are unloseable (that might not be a real word).
I largely feel that my gameplay has an impact on the outcome of the game. I have singlehandedly thrown games that were winnable. I have been the crucial difference in turning a game into a win.
I have zero doubt that I could climb out of Bronze were I back there. In fact, although I only recently made it to Gold V, I am confident I could climb out of silver again if I had a string of losses that dropped me back there.
70% luck 30% skill
because you can win lane and then another lane gets fed so bad u cannot stop it. Orrrrr they will make stupid choices like not pushing towers and chasing.
Both are wrong. I will directly tell you something. If I go back in bronze V, In 3 days, I can go back in Silver V. I know everything about the Bronze players. I have learn every, single things about the bronze players. Its about your pick, and also about your champion you can carry with it and win your game with it. Exemple, I can play Irelia none stop until Silver V. I can play Master Yi until Silver V,I can play Jinx until Silver V, I can play many other champions and spam them until Silver V. Once you enter Silver V, you have to learn something else which I don't know yet, but I think I am about to understand what it is. In Silver V, it is not about your picks, it is about your positioning.
its both
make your own luck using your skills.
luck favors the prepared
