Buying upgraded boots while using magical footwear on a full inventory

So I played a game earlier where I had the rune magical footwear. I bought a cloth armor prior to 10minutes (when you get the boots) and my inventory had filled up due to starting item, refillable, stopwatch, cloth armor, etc... So I wanted to upgrade to ninja tabi past 10 minutes (when I'd normally be able to get the boots if I had an open spot) but even with enough gold to buy ninja tabi I couldn't buy them due to not actually possessing the magical boots yet. I had to sell my refillable potion to be able to get my boots and buy ninja tabi which felt kind of bad. Would it be possible to make it so that if you have a component of your upgraded boots such as cloth armor or a dagger or null mantle and you don't have your magical boots yet (only due to full inventory) that we could be able to upgrade into tier 2 boots?

This needs a solution, so I am voting it to the top, but I have to say that this is one of the more unique problems I have seen on this boards as I never manage to fill my inventory before 10 minutes.

^Voted indeed, I've had this issue before too riot, by minute 10 I had item 1056 item 2003 item 3070 item 1028 item 3113 item 1026 Which, granted is rare but it happens, and i had to wait to complete my item 3027 before I could buy the boots.

But allowing you to upgrade to tier 2 boots in a "phantom" inventory slot I don't think is right.

If you are in the shop, and have the gold to upgrade the boots, you need to do item management of your existing items to make room for your boots, or just sit on the gold till you use your consumable items. Then next time in the shop you upgrade the magical boots to tier 2.

The rune already saves you $$, and as long as a slot is free you gain them without backing, which is another advantage that those with out the rune don't have.

I doubt there is an easy fix to this. You would have to break some rules of the item system or inventory; the bugs it could create alone make it not worth it.

Like, the situation sucks for sure, but it's extremely rare to fill your entire inventory before you get the boots (unless you're stocked up on Klepto consumables which you can just sell). Even then, all you lost was 90g from selling Refillable.

I just don't see Riot prioritizing this bug over others, unless they can find a surprisingly easy fix.

But... that wastes gold. It would cost you an extra 300 gold. +the boots discount.

So Tabis build out of cloth armor and boots, so why can't it just replace your cloth armor with the tabis? Once you upgraded into the Tabis it would be taking up only one slot anyways, so if had to sell something else to get the boots and then upgrade you're left with an empty slot. Maybe that would be game breaking in some way, idk. You can do it with other items, though. Let's say I had a full inventory. 5 complete items and then a long sword. If I had enough gold to buy a Hydra with that long sword, it would just replace the longsword in my inventory, despite not having any other components. Why can't this work with the free-ass boots?

Are you sure you were getting the movement speed for the magic boots since they were not in your inventory? It does not seem right that you can have max inventory + an invisible slot for boots.
