Qualifying and demoting

why is it that we need a qualifying series to get to a next level/rank?, but you get demoted when you lose 3 games in a row?... i just experienced this, i was in zero in my last game and got demoted, no warning, nothing, no vaseline, demoted just like that, i thought you get demoted when you're in zero for 3 lost games, in any case i have no idea what is the rule or if is random, maybe there is probably another discussion i'm not aware of lol.

If your MMR is lower than your rank, you will be demoted rapidly. It's a lag system where your rank is catching up to MMR. If you had a high MMR you wouldn't be. I once lost 5 games in a row at 0 LP and didn't get demoted. Most of the time though I get demoted right at 0.
