April Fool's Day
Let's talk about April Fool's Day in regards to League. I've been playing this game for 4 April Fool's Days now, and in my experience with it so far, Riot has just been setting us up for disappointment. Let's start with 2014, my first year playing the game. Introducing the new game mode, URF. That mode is what made me come back to League the first month of me playing. It was up for a week(?) and Riot built up to it. 2015: URF again and a whole shitton of skins I liked. 2016 (and so it begins): the whole "Amumu's Birthday/Draven Day" which I enjoyed a little, and the hype and the patch was enjoyable. No URF, which I was disappointed about because I figured after 2 years in a row of it URF would become annual. But hey, the Draven heads were kinda funny for a couple games and we got some nice skins out of it. 2017: So Riot (at least twice to my memory) said that URF would be happening again this year. (Could be wrong, please correct me, but that's what I thought so that's what I expected). Instead we didn't even get URF's ugly cosuin ARURF and there was no hype. I looked for any announcements and couldn't find anything. I thought "hey maybe their silence means something great and/or funny will be released as a surprise". We got a fake bot name for our enemies and all chat was turned off. And we got some mediocre skins. Wow. [zombie-brand-mindblown] I mean even after the disappointment of an URFless April wore off like the year before, this was supremely underwhelming. At least with the year before there was a nice (lore-related) joke and some hype around it. If I never even expected URF, this would still be aggravating. What's next year Riot? Maybe you can spend two minutes making us a button in the client that doesn't do anything? Yea, that'll be fun! [slayer-jinx-unamused]
