I think thresh should be played more in other rolls then just support or sometimes mid lane, with ad tank thresh he can pretty much play anywhere while his souls gives you the ability power to do damage with your abilities. I've played him top numerous times and it works great. Any thoughts on this?

This is typically better when you put Thresh in the ADC role. He turns into burst ADC with his E passive. You can typically deal over 1200+ physical + magic damage, capable of one shotting enemy ADCs and APC who aren't building armor.

This was before his scaling nerfs, when he could shield the entire team and when all of his ultimate walls dealt damage, not just one. I can't imagine AP Thresh working now.
You're not tanky in the early game at all, so you can't use second Q for most of the game, not unless you know you won't die or trade your life for two kills.
His stacks don't really start becoming noticeable until you hit mid-game and even then it will take until the late game for them to start making him tankier with more AP. By then the enemy has items so that sucks.
Mecha MaIphite1 votesYou're dueling potential sucks ass, the only hope of doing damage is going full AD (adc or mid). If you do get ahead though you can one-shot squishies with your first auto.
