Why does dodging kick you out of series?

Top laner picked Vel'Koz after support picked Brand. No longer able to play LB, I panic clicked Talon and didn't have time to lock in. Instead of doing what would make sense and giving me a loss in series that would make me 1-1, it just set me to 90 lp. How is this okay? As all of us know, sometimes dodging is an accident and the punishment is really unforgiving for people that had trouble getting into series in the first place.

How does this relate to me not being skilled enough for the next division? Why am I being punished because my top laner picked something so dumb without communicating it to us beforehand so we could prepare?

You are still in your series after you dodge. You lost 10 LP because it must have been the second time you dodged recently. You still have LP loss during promos, if you had lost that game it would also show.

Would you dodge a lobby that gave you a chance to win?
