Should I Play Morgana Mid or Support?

Hi, I'm a Plat V ADC main, although I have been solely playing midlane now in ranked, specifically with Morgana. Although, only 15% of people play her in mid. I feel like she is really strong mid, with two hard CC abilities and mostly AOE damage (which can take tons of HP if you land q), along with the no skill farming w after you get two items. But still not many people play her mid. Is she that much better as a support, that 85% of people play her in the botlane? Just wondering because I have only supported with her once or twice, and I'm not sure if I should start doing it more, if it is actually a better position for her.

Why not both?

If you don't get mid (because, let's face it, it's the most popular role...), take her support if she's not picked.

Nobody said you couldn't do both.

I don't know about higher elo's cuz I'm a crummy silver player but, because I suck at the game, I get to play with other people that suck at the game and I have noticed A LOT of adc's that cannot dodge a thresh hook or blitz grab so maybe that is the reason she is taken bot lane in the low elo.

From what I can gather (and this is my first season ranked, and Im struggling to get out of bronze as a support main currently so take what I say with a grain of salt) her main advantage in the bot lane vs the mid lane is that her black shield counters what a lot of supports set out to do. ie. Leona. Leona's got hard CC with a great dive ability, problem? if your target is immune to all of your cc and you don't deal nearly enough damage to break the shield, you all of a sudden become worthless in this lane, and you can't assist really until later in the game. Thresh going to land a hook? black shield removes the stun, blitz? negates the pull, etc.

Mid Morgana has 1 downside: If you miss your Q, your team effectively fights 4x5

Speaking as someone who doesn't play Ranked but has Morgana as only one of two champions at Mastery Level 5 at the time of writing this:

Morgana Mid is really underrated these days. Her pressure and ability to stay safe from ganks and all ins cannot be underestimated. I would say, if you feel more comfortable playing her Mid than Support, keep doing that and don't let percentage played numbers influence you because you have just as much to offer in either role.

And I think the reason you're seeing such a disparity in terms of being played Mid vs being played Support is because... well... because the Pros tend to play her Support with one or two rare exceptions. This isn't me saying, "Oh, most people are just trying to #LCSBigPlays" but just there's a lot more information now-a-days for study regarding Morgana Support vs Morgana Mid as a result. And most people will gravitate to something that's easier to learn.

But again, your comfort as a player is more important in this case, so don't feel you have to change your role with a Champion if you know how to make it work.

Morgana mid is generally one of the top 10 midlaners while practically never being banned. She's super safe and can determine the outcome of a fight before it even starts. With the new masteries I've been consistently outputting the most damage in games and have a kda of 15/4/10 and a 70% WL with her so far in preseason across the 20 gsmes I've played.

Meanwhile she has a negative winrate as a support.
