The change that Riot really needs to make

Several times now I have been kicked out of champ select because it's lagged too much for me. Before any of you guys go and say to "check my connection" I have, and it's fine once I get into game. However, when I go to lock in my ban or choose a champion, it takes a good 5-6 seconds to actually even BEGIN searching for it, and this has caused me to have been unable to choose or change a champ, or make me unable to change a summoner spell or item set.

For God's sake, how has this not been addressed already.
