So i was about to change my name, doesn't matter which one. But the name i wanted was already taken. I went to check out who plays by the name i desire, and as it turns its some guy who is lvl 11 and hasn't played League for about 1 and half year. I think it should be fair if someone isn't playing the game and someone else wants the name he can have it. Also the guy who isn't playing can have a name reset **_IF _**he/she loggs in. Any thoughts about this idea :)?

After a certain period of time, inactive players have their names released and you would be able to take it. The info is available somewhere in the website, I'm sure if you googled it you'd find it.

Your target is active, it's just not showing in the match history for whatever reason. It wouldn't surprise me if it were a collector of some sort, I hear there are people who gather names just so they can sell them. Lame, but what can ya do?

I actually got the name for my main from a lvl 10 account; I discovered he already had the name when I tried to change to it, but he hadn't played in over a year. He didn't play that account at all after that point and after 6 months of waiting, Riot let me take his name for myself.

Did you send a support ticket and asked them or what? When i go to check if the name i want is free its says it is not available but the guy that has the name is inactive he doesn't even have a match histroy somehow ...

Nah, names just become available after a certain length of inactivity. IIRC, it's 6 months plus 1 additional month for each level on the account past lvl 1. So in my case, since his account was lvl 10, he needed to be inactive for 15 months for his name to become available; I initially tried switching at only 9 months and had to wait another 6 for it to become available.

As for the match history, you should know that only ranked games will appear on another accounts match history if the account you're looking up isn't on your friends list. This applies to Riot's official match history only, however; other sources like op.gg should shall normal games as well as ranked games. However, op.gg only tracks games for the last 2 months, so it may show no games if they haven't played that recently. Lolking.net is probably your best bet; that's how I kept track of the account I was watching.

TFW the person with the name "TOP SNEK" doesn't even play Cassiopeia (he has like 5 games on her total).... and "T0P SNEK"(zero instead of o) doesn't even fuking own ... this is why i hate people...

A summoner's name becomes available for someone else to grab, if the said summoner has been inactive for 10 months, if i'm not mistaken. My original nickname was Sephirothrex but, after my brother started playing with a sith name(Darth Plagues) i changed to one as well. The guy i took it from was inactive 11 months.
