Current state of league - Mage update

What are everyone's thoughts on the mage update and how the meta is shifting? I am not at all a fan of the new league. A lot of subtle changes but basically all the champs i previously enjoyed seem very lackluster and weak. I'm by no means a good player. I'm a casual player who like solo queue. Need to pure solo queue though. No more ranked with friends at all.
