What were these rock things in aram?

Kind of a noob here and saw something i'd never seen before in aram. In the very middle of the map, between the bushes, there was like this glowing rock thing. It looked like it had a red aura radius about it and my team could go up and channel on it to disable it I guess. There were two more of these placed evenly on the map.

I asked what they even were but no one replied. Not sure if it's some champ caused them to appear or if it's some new mechanic they added. Anyway... would like to read more about it if possible.

Those are there for Skarner's passive.

CRYSTAL SPIRES: Skarner's presence causes a number of Crystal Spires to appear at set points on the battlefield, which can be captured by champions who stand near them for 2 seconds. Once captured, Crystal Spires are owned until contested and the defending team can stand on the spire to prevent the opposing team from capturing it.

Crystal Spires grant Gold 30 split among its captors upon being captured, or Gold 15 if only a single champion participated in its capture, and provide sight around them for 1.5 seconds upon being captured, becoming impossible to recapture for 15 seconds.

CRYSTAL CHARGE: While within range of a Crystal Spire controlled by his team, or while an enemy is stunned with Fracture or suppressed with Impale, Skarner gains 70 − 120 (based on level) bonus movement speed, 43% − 160% (based on level) bonus attack speed and restores 2% maximum mana every second.

Its skarners passive. Its in all three maps. It gives him attack speed and damage. If hes on your team, try to have it, if hes on the enemy team contest it.

Yup yup that's definitely what it was. I played years ago when Skarner didn't have these so didn't suspect him
