So, I finished season 5 at bronze II in promotionals. Just finished provisionals for season 6 with 7 wins and 3 losses and was placed in bronze IV. Last season I went 1-9 in provisionals and was placed in bronze III. That being said, can anyone explain why winning more in provisionals placed me in a lower rank even when I ended last season in bronze II? The logic doesn't make sense to me.

SeekerofSilence3 votesIt placed you lower because the provisionals essentially start off of your starting mmr. When you go into your first season you start with silver IV mmr, and from that you're placed. This season you're placed based on your mmr from last year, but with a little buff/nerf towards silver IV mmr.
Your mmr was apparently pretty low, I'd say around bronze V/IV in order for you to win that many matches and still drop a division.
