How do you carry as ADC in low elo?

pappa··12 votes·18,385 views

I just don't understand why my teammates never do anything for me. They're all so selfish and bad that they feed and even my support takes some of my cs in lane and in teamfights my team ignores me. for example,i try to stay back, attack the closest enemy, then someone jumps on me and my team just ignores that person. They only focus on trying to kill whoever is in front of THEM.. Like, i stay close to my teammates but they still ignore me wtf? And after all these bad teamfights that we lost, i tell my team to start splitpushing, because we have less power in teamfights. But they just choose to ignore me and continue to fight, and as an adc, i can't really splitpush, so i kind of have to stay with them. (I have carried a few games here and there, but it only happens when i get peel or when no one dares to touch me) so.. what am i doing wrong? btw this is not my main account and feel free to ask any questions

There isn't much you can do if your team doesn't protect you. You can't force them to help you. Chances are there might be just 1 or 2 people on your team that will help you and it is probably just the support. If your team doesn't help you then you have to help yourself. If you are being focused and killed you can just go defensive items like ga or mal of malmortius. Hell, even ninja tabi is starting to become a great item for adc. You can also play some adc who can play safe in fights like ezreal or cait. Hope this helps.

Well, ezreal works well for me as a safe adc, i even got a kda of 8.0 last game. thanks for the tips

Never pick an ADC that can't peel for themselves in low Elo. You'll want Lucian, Ezreal, Sivir, Caitlyn. Picking Jinx, Jhin, Ashe, Varus are all asking for death sentences. Draven is a great pick to carry with if you're mechanically good with him.

What about tristana? her range is insane late game

JVP152 votes

Tristana isn't in the best spot right now, especially since she gets dumpstered early game by champs like Lucian and Draven. If you can get to late game with her, she is pretty good. However, I don't think she is the best in low ELO unless you really know your stuff with her.

Rux1003 votes

ashe isnt bad to soloQ with, since shes got slows for days, an E that gives vision, and an ult that stuns. You just have to pay attention to the map and use your hawkshot wisely.

I'm usually fine with Jinx (she's my main). Sure she has no peel but that just means don't split push by yourself. Take your support with you or something. She can however keep people off of her if she sees them coming and places her snares correctly. Though this only works when they can't flash over them.

What about Vayne?

ADC is the hardest role to carry from in lower ELO, even worse than Support. You're inherently going to be team reliant.

Your best bet is to just grab the game by the balls and win early game, and keep your farm up. It's absolutely critical that you hit your late game as soon as possible, or the game will be decided before you come online.

Once you get your tower down bot lane, back and see if roaming mid and sieging that tower down is feasible. I don't care if your mid laner pings you and starts bitching, you're going to do the right thing irrespective of the mid laner's complaining. That's the best advice I can give you for making an early game impact as an ADC.

Of course if dragon is ever an option, you want that, too. The point here is that you DPS objectives down better than anyone else in the room as a fed ADC, and it is imperative that you abuse this advantage.

Thanks for the tips, you really gave me hope

Rux1004 votes

What this guy said, as soon as your tower goes down, recall and roam to another lane, try to gank if you can, and take that extra objective. folks in low elo soloQ tend to be slow and indecisive, so YOU be VERY decisive and go for what you need and they will always be late to your party.

Never play bot lane in low elo.

Play mid or jungle so you can actually be relevant during the first 20 minutes which is when most games are decided.

pappa1 votes

I'll try jungle, used to play sejuani a lot but I'm not sure if she is good anymore

Rux1001 votes

shes not meta but I enjoy her when I have to jg. her whole kit is CC and zoning.

Well someone's gotta play bot lane.

Not until Riot makes bot lane more enjoyable again. But instead of fixing gank squads bot lane, mage supports and Caitlyn, they are looking into ways to make more mages capable of playing ADC.

I think you missed Tombdragon's point. There will always be a bottom laner.

Mira Arya Enthe1 votes

No I got it. But everyone should avoid it like the plague until it is fixed.

New meta:

2 top, 2 jungle, 1 mid. Minion only bot lane.

Rux1002 votes

You know, you can play the adc spot with intend to support... I play a lot of jhin for example, do I worry about carrying? sort of, but mainly I worry about landing my W and setting up a good R for the big fights towards mid and late. Hard carrying in my opinion should never be on your mind, playing well should be on your mind. and right now all ADCs need to farm before they can be worth anything, and THAT IS OK. has it been 5 minutes and noone is died? why is that a bad thing? sh*t, farm up boyz. I love ADC.

Mira Arya Enthe2 votes

Nope. To many top tier player have already stated due to poor design of carry/support classes playing such team reliant classes below diamond makes it far far harder to climb. The only way to safely climb from B-P is by carrying yourself. Yes you should recognize when you are being carried and do your best to support that. But you should never plan on being carried. Because low tiers have no teamwork and no sense of organization. I love Ashe. But I'd never play her in low tier League of Assassins ranked play. Nobody will tank, peel or support, nobody purposefully will give late game carries farms or kills, nobody supports you as a player. I play Shyvana Jungle or supports who can semi-carry through forced fights like Blitz and Leona, or mid mages. People who can actually decide outcomes. Most traditional ADCs(not high ranged assassins like Jhin) and enchanters are 100% reliant on hoping somebody else is good at the game and hoping your team plays around you. A fighter, tank or mage can still help their team but have solo carry potential. Thus they are simply better until higher tiers.

Rux1001 votes

Intend was the wrong word. What I meant is go in with the intention of playing well. wether that means carry or be carried. I just meant that there are other ways to contribute to a game as ADC than carrying. I agree that ADCs are typically weak right now, but thats just the earlier game, the late game still is strong for some ADCs. and also when I said hard carrying should never be on your mind, I say hard carry meaning you literally have over half the kill and the game has said legendary like 8+ times. Carry is just, you're the carry, the strong one, the should-be target for the enemy. Also, it is for all of these reasons why ADC is a great role to play right now: you learn more about the game faster than any other position on the rift right now. It may be a pain in the ass, but get good at ADC right now and you will do fairly well with the other lanes (minus jg cuz its just a totally different world).

Mira Arya Enthe1 votes

Your intention should be winning the game. Relying on team mates is known by coaches as "high variance plays" as in, you cannot predict the outcome because you don't know what your soloQ team mates will do and how they play. You should look at every match in low elo as if it is your job to win, even if you are playing support. That said it is much easier and less frustrating to win more often playing less team reliant roles where your skill makes more of a difference. I play tons if Ashe and Soraka in normals, I wouldn't in ranked.

Rux1001 votes

At the same time, you can not win a 5v5 game by yourself. You need to understand while, yes it's not smart to rely heavily on your team, you will reach a point in every single game where you wont have a choice. Go in the game, play to win, and do the best you can with your situation 10-15-20minutes in and play accordingly. If you're 0/8 and someone else is 12/3, sorry but my money is on them winning for me, and that's just how it is. Not what I wanted or played for, but that's how it is.

And playing ADC is supposed to be hard, btw. We're supposed to do f*cktons of damage, if we weren't easy to kill then we would be OP. It's important, I think, that we are so fragile. Yes, we're in the lethality meta and if your champ doesn't use lethality you are gonna have a hard time but that's just meta, and the meta always changes.

Mira Arya Enthe1 votes

Yes. But if your interest is climbing the worst roles are ADC, Top then Support. Jungle and Mid are the best for climbing. Until that changes anybody interested in carrying their elo should avoid bot lane. Until D+ where support becomes OP and ADC evens out. Then only avoid top.

Rux1001 votes

I will disagree on a note there, support is not a bad role to play if you want to climb.

Top and sup can climb. While yes, you rely on your team as a sup, as you said some supports can do it themselves. Zyra and Brand are viable right now so use 'em. And top lane, I think my winrate is highest with top lane and I play mainly Poppy up there. But you can play whatever carry you want almost, with your TP you will have map pressure and can be wherever you want as long as you pay attention. Quinn is so great for top lane climbing imo, her ult almost makes TP unnecessary... almost. Jayce is another good one.

Sadly, I will say ADC is the hardest role to climb with. But if you are a good adc, it is doable

Only because of auto-fill. :p

Rux1001 votes

no, play bot lane often in low elo, you learn a LOT more about the game in much shorter time than in any other position.

I know the feeling, sadly there's not much you can do, try to maximize your effectiveness as much as you can, if you die because your team decides it's not worth protecting their highest dmg source then just do as much as you can while you're alive, of course, do not force fights or anything and learn to play around your team as opposed to making plays.

ADC became a very passive role this season and I know it can seem boring but trust me, if you stop trying to make plays happen, you'll have a ton more sucess, focus on farming and following aggression or at least trading correctly but do not try to force stuff out

pick cait, stomp lane, get three items and 1v5.

  1. Play with friends when possible

  2. Don't blame your teammates. Look at what you can do to improve your own gameplay.

  3. Encouragement and helpful advice is ALWAYS better than blaming and raging.

  4. Don't be afraid to use bot games or custom games to practice a champion/skill. It doesn't mean you're "bad," it means you are polite to your teammates and you want to improve.

  5. If you are consistently losing with a particular champion or strategy, mix things up. Play a champ with more cc, or more mobility, or more sustain. Explore different builds. Heck, play a different role for a while--if nothing else, you'll learn how best to set up that jungle/mid/top gank if you've played from their perspective.

  6. Step away from the computer for a moment if you feel your emotions are negatively affecting your gameplay. Take a deep breath and stretch your arms and back if a teammate does something foolish. Get up and do some pushups or jumping jacks after an unnecessary death. Take a walk or do some household chores after a tough loss. Don't let one mistake snowball into an entire day of bad games. Everyone--you AND your teammates--makes mistakes. Accept that it happened, and look for ways to prevent it from happening next time.

  7. Remember you have direct control over 10% of the game. You have indirect control over the enemy's 50% of the game--you can kill them, force them to use summoners, push them out of lane, catch them with wards, cc them, and take their objectives. You have NO control over your allies' 40% of the game; all you can do is ping and offer advice. Stay positive and help your teammates to play better; don't flame and cause them to play worse.

  8. Supports need gold, too. Not as much as an ADC, but some. Don't miss three last-hits typing an angry message to your support because they dared kill one minion. (I mean, if they exhibit a pattern of farming when they should be poking or looking for all-in opportunities, you may want to say, "I'll take care of the minions, boo, you just keep them off my ass <3" or something.)

  9. Ping! Never assume your allies see what you see. If you need help, ping for it. If you see a gank coming, ping it. If you notice an enemy isn't in lane, ping that they're missing. If you want to focus down a particular champ, ping that champ. Ping ping ping ping, it's a fast and easy way to communicate your needs and intentions to your team.

Get someone with wave clear, self peel, objective control and then just afk push. Then again I'm speaking from a top laners perspective.

Also if you/your teamates are feeding then just farm and stall. Chances they are lacking in cs and not getting minions so sooner or later you are going to outscale them.

How to carry as adc in low elo is simple. First you have to win lane. After that when team fights start to happen all you do is stay alive. Your team will clean up the fight and as long as you are alive you can take the towers and win the game. Focus on yourself and attack what's in front of you while at the same time making sure you stay alive. Eventually your team will come to your aid after they clean up the front. Then you can proceed to melt the enemy towers. This seems to work for me when I get put adc.

Qq thread, wants entire team to jerk him off

That's pretty much all you can do. Farm up, back up your team when they make plays/fights, and hope they back you up in kind.

Surr20plz1 votes

Are you kiting and ani-canceling?

Eternal7911 votes

Sounds like a case of bad teammates. Not a whole lot you can do about that except only play with people you know are good at helping out their team and knowing when and when not to team fight.

NekoniClaws1 votes

Y'know I'm going to assume you like playing adc and want to continue to do so.

I think a good move is to have a selection of good supports to duoqueue with. Just that one ally, (who happens to have the peel/CC/wards) is enough. Of course this won't mean your tank is in any better position for you, (haha I'm just joking, you don't have a tank =) ) but a good backline is a great start.

I recently played on my smurf(lv25). And everyone there doesnt understand shit about why I'm behind and stuff. I was winning in lane but I roamed bot to help bot but their shy was there to coutergank and it gave them 4 kills. The top laner said that his team was dumb when he had tp and he could have tped in and he talks about kda and shit when all he did was overextend and get caught out even when I pinged him and told him to backoff and enemy is coming. After that he flames me and stuff. The problem about newer players is that they always have a such high ego despite them not even doing much. I remember when I started in season 5.(a bit before fiora rework) Everyone was open to new players and they would try to carry and wouldnt complain about their deaths unless it's getting annoying or bullshit(so salt). A lot of players would reflect on their mistakes but the common trend is that no matter what happens, they blame it on their team.

And btw, dont bother to play much adc rn, you're going to get oneshotted anyway.

This is a very interesting question I have been thinking about myself. Let us evaluate low elo player behavior:

  1. Typically do not help out team
  2. Scared to initiate
  3. Cannot control map
  4. Do not win lane/captivate map objectives

I couldn't help but to notice these things demand mobility. How can you be everywhere on the map? I don't mean switching to the jungle position, but pick a champ that is great at clearing minion waves and has a nice escape. Ward to indicate when you need to escape. You don't even need to fight until you out cs the other team. The champions good at this sort of thing that come to mind are: Tristana, Caitlyn, and Ezreal (I also think Draven might be a good choice, however he is super complex). The idea is if you can take down their tower and out cs them you can spend time helping out the other lanes.

The reason I pick these champs is because you can take advantage of your teams slack. You can push side waves, gank the other team in your jungle, get to your late game faster, and initiate with less of a consequence (which sadly is sometimes is required, but hopefully avoidable). Chances are if your team sucks, their team sucks so take advantage of the objectives of the map by taking risks by being aggressive to the objectives (not necessarily kills, instead towers, minions, dragons, and other stuff) of the game and punishing them late game. Try to win the game without requiring a team fight. Be everywhere yet nowhere.
