I've had decent success with Nautilus and Maokai, have yet to try Malphite. I did poorly with Rammus... I just couldn't get the hang of him lol. Probably will give him another try soon. But from what I've seen, strong picks are Rengar, Lee Sin, Fiddlesticks, Jax, and Mazter Yi. But I don't main jungle, I main top and adc.

I would try Amumu. Consistently one of the better junglers.

Kindred and volibear are one of the best jungers imo and I was able to keep above a 60% winrate throughout the season with them.

Kindred has such a game-changing ultimate as long as you use it at the right moments. She shreds through tanks if you can stack her passive efficiently. Her ganks are strong as well.

Volibear is a pretty easy champ to learn and has strong ganks also. He deletes carries even if built straight tank, and will soak up so much damage because of his healing passive.

Pfftt Graves shouldn't be in that list. He should be still a marksman, not a tanky bruiser top laner and jungler. Riot messed up with him big time.

you're not gonna get an argument from me about that, but right now he's a jungler

Which he really shouldn't be at all.

Why ? Because he is an ADC ?

Yes. ADC's are meant for bot lane. Anywhere else and they screw up the meta. They make people hate them. And ones that love it is because they like inflicting rage and pain into others while they laugh in glee as they wreck others to pieces.

Look around. Do you see the hate around Quinn top? Graves top/jungle? I do, and I hate it.

Even Riot Gaussrik told me that he didn't like the rework they gave him.

Leave the jungle to those that are meant for it. Not those that were awfully remade.

Ah, here we go, let's concretely review what you are saying.

" ADC's are meant for bot lane. Anywhere else and they screw the meta. They make people hate them. And ones that love it is because they like inflicting rage and pain into others while they laugh in glee as they wreck others to pieces. " You are touching here to the point, but you have sand in your eyes, you don't see the true issue. Why do they screw the meta ? Very simple : It is impossible to play as a melee in lane against an ADC. Or, rather, it is a very frustrating experience, you are totally right here.

But why ? Actually, in most 1 VS 1 scenario, an ADC get completely destroyed by a melee opponent. Furthermore, ADC scales, they usually tend to rather weak early game, contrary to melee champ who have higher base stats, tend to be stronger early game as well. So, where the problem is lying ?

Let's imagine three champions, X, Y and Z.

  • X is ranged, with no mobility and is the squishiest of the three.
  • Y is tanky, with no mobility and is melee.
  • Z is mobile, melee and is squishy. The three of them have pretty decent damage.

Let's now imagine three battles :

  • X VS Y : In this case, Y will lose. X, being ranged, will kite infinitely Y, who won't be able to deal any kind of damage.
  • Y VS Z : In this case, Z will lose. It doesn't matter that Z is mobile if he is the one taking damage the most damage at melee range.
  • Z VS X : In this case, X will lose. Z, being mobile, will be unaffected by the kite of X.

The problem, the charm, the characteristic, call it whatever you want, of League of Legends, is that champ often plays on two axis, rather than one. And here we are to the point of the problem. ADCs always play on the ranged axe, never on the tankyness one and, more often than they should on the mobility. And that is the problem. Every axe cancels itself (if they are even in strength for both champs). On which axes are mostly playing the Top laners and Junglers ? On mobility and tankyness. But, wait, if their opponent also have mobility, they only have tankyness as " actual " strength. Guess what have the ADCs who are played top and junglers as axes of strength ? Range, who beats tankyness.

But, wait, every mobile ADCs are not played top or jungle. And Gnar, while being most of the time ranged, is still bearable. What makes Quinn and Graves so hard to play against as a melee ? They both got tools who are especially strong against melee.

  • For Graves, it is his augmented damage against closer targets and his W, who slows and reduces vision. He also got tankyness in his E, on top of that. While the loss of Range and the gain of Tankyness seems clearly a design error at first view, if he has been played bot lane, it would have been okay.
  • For Quinn, her E, who act as an anti mobility tool and a slight slow and her Q, who nearsight. She still keep her mobility, while denying the one of her opponent. From memory (I can be wrong), she was designed to be played mid. Against Mage, she loses the game of range but wins the game of mobility, and vice versa against Assassins. She wouldn't have been a problem at all.

The two of them are good rework. They are distinct, delivers rather well their fantasy, and would even be healthy if they were played at their designed position.

Why all of this demonstration ? It is exactly because they were designed for specific lanes that the two of them screw the meta if they are taken out of their designed lanes. And here we go to the true problem : Riot has created the meta back in Season Two (I don't know why, and it is irrelevant here). But there is a clear fact : THE meta, the ACTUAL meta is created by players, who choose champions based on how strong they are and where they are strong, effectively screwing the meta in the case of a champ too good in a role that wasn't his. Riot can then do two things :

  • Balance the champ around his new role. In some case, like VI (designed for top lane, ended being a Jungler), it is not a problem, but in the case where the axe of the champ, it doesn't actually resolve the problem, it just lessens the burden.
  • Balance the champ to put him back in his old role, at the risk of completely gutting the said champ in both roles.

In the case of Quinn and Graves, they tried the former. With the nerfs of these two, a tank meta at the top lane appeared to finish the work, reducing considerably their playrate. It didn't resolve the problem, it just put it in suspension.

that was a really good explanation!

My mains are Nidalee, Elise, and Rek'Sai. These are all great champions to pick up if you want to be a general jungle main, but all have a pretty high skill floor and a great area to improve upon even when "mastered."
