Is playing like an idot the only way to escape silver?

I do what most do, I try not to die, Dont facecheck, dont chase meaningless kills, but here is something i have noticed. By playing like a human being I dont die and I take objectives, but I dont get kills. Now compare this to my enemies / allies who are each 9/12/1, meanwhile I am 2/0/1... Their dumb suicideing for kills, the yelling out "worth" in all chat just got them more fed than me, even though they are technically doing allot worse.

This may be a retarded question.. but do I have to play like i have no brain in order to keep up with my allies / enemies in these types of games? Even if i solopush an inhib, i still have 5 "technically" more fed enemies who did nothing but die... very confusing.

If i play smart, sure I didnt die, but the enemy still has 12+ kills which technically means they are more fed..

If they have more deaths than kills, that means that someone on your team will be more fed than they are.

It is acceptable to play recklessly for kills when:

  1. Going after an enemy of equal power who has shutdown gold while you do not.
  2. When there is a high probability that your team will end up with more kills than deaths in the skirmish
  3. The fight will result in securing dragon, baron, buff, etc.

Essentially, as long as you are gaining more gold in return juxtaposed to the amount given to the enemy, it is okay to die.

However, make risky plays that will result in say, 8/12, because although you will be fed, someone else on the other team will be even more so.

In general, you have to make more high-risk, high reward plays. A 9/12 player will usually have more gold than a 2/0 player, because without accounting for bounties, etc. that's a 2k gold difference, about 75-100 CS.

A good rule to follow is that no play is "dumb" unless the other team ends up getting more gold out of it than you.

Honestly, kinda of. Your playstyle does need to be different when carrying out of lower ELO than if you are higher up mostly because more mistakes are made and you need to be more aggressive to capitalize on the mistakes without making any yourself.

I was just writing in another post how I find assassins easy to carry with because they are typically the easiest to get kills with when many mistakes are made.

if you cant get out of silver, you dont deserve to be out of silver. dont get whats so hard to understand.

I agree with this to an extent. It is extremely difficult to escape silver when you constantly get paired with baddies or are pitted against a smurf account (which happens more often than you'd think).

Play better, and you'll move out. Simple as that.

Playing conservative in silver should net you crap loads of kills just capitalizing on mistakes your opponents make.

Not feeding isn't the same as playing like a limp noodle.

Carrying low elo you have to play differently and take advantage of the lack of people's experience. Playing snowbally champs in low elo will typically yield much better results than a more support-ish role. A big difference between low elo and high elo is decision making and when to do objectives.

Alot of those games where your team feeds are winnable because people do dumb shit and throw late in the game in lower elo.

It's kind of a balance. Don't do stupid stuff and in the long run you'll win more games than you'll lose.

That said, there are times to play it risky, and times to play it safe. Generally speaking you should try to aim for at least 3 kills or assists per death. Back when reign of gaming was cool and not looking for clicks alone, GentlemanGustaf I think it was posted something showing that a 3:1 KA/D will win you most of your games, 2.5 KA/D is around half, and under 2 is going to lose you more games than you win.

Now there are times when you can get away with a lower KA/D, such as playing a tanky initiator or knowing when to sac your champ for an objective or preventing more allied deaths. Sometimes you'll get someone low enough that an ally will kill him when it's too late for you to qualify for the assist (hidden assists).

Still, keep your death count lower, keep CSing, and keep focusing objectives and you'll start winning more.

BTW, look up something called cluster luck. Basically unlikely events can cluster together and make things look different than they are.
