SHEN REWORK IS OUT!
OH BABY! The Shen rework is out and it looks awesome! He seems like more of a support than before and the floating sword is cool, where do you think he will be played now, support, jungle or top?

The seemingly random nature of the 'spirt blade' is a terrible game mechanic. It should be a skill shot for both throwing it out and returning it. Now Riot has made shen a chained dog that has to somehow 'trick' his opponent into crossing the chain or getting close enough where he can setup his combo. The combo would be nice if Q could be tactically placed but with it being dropped randomly (at least as far as it seems) it becomes a dog chain. Now he has to expose himself incredibly and you better just forget it if in lane against a lulu, quin, etc. The loss of sustain will hurt him bad in top. They might as well have just said 'we're tired of Shen top lane...we're making him a tanky support!'
It's frustrating. They claimed Vorpal Blade wasn't a fun enough ability because it's a single cast auto-target skill, so they replace it with what essentially amounts to a melee auto attack steroid. How is that more fun? The slow effect is irrelevant since the only way I can seem to position the enemy between me and the blade is when they are taunted, in which case they aren't running from me. I can't slow them when chasing because I don't have a way of moving my spirit blade ahead of them. The dodge thing blocks one auto-attack before it times out, and you have to position the sword before using it, which normally means you have a shield anyway. I have yet to see a team fight where my squishy allies are near the sword, so it doesn't even protect them. Also, I'm really bothered by the fact that Shadow Dash does physical damage now. Why?
The only think I like about the rework is the new splash arts, because I have 4 of Shen's skins. But it wasn't worth losing one of my favorite kits in the game.
this game is slowly but surely is going down hill. once the pros don't even want to tolerate this mess they are gonna tend to play this game less and there supporters.
It was kinda nice to have someone who was mostly melee with a mid-range ability. Give me back my lifesteal and range. Unless shen is SUPER SUPER SUPER tanky, you are going to get destroyed trying to position for your Q. Bottom line, if people are using the old champs, dont change them. Some of us have been playing them since the start of the game.
This spirit blade thing is so awkward. Why couldn't he just carry it with him, or have it empower his existing blade (like Riven's ult) and maybe slow the first target hit or something?
I'm hoping I can still play him top
OH SO SHEN GETS A CHANGE BUT GRAVES GETS NO CIGAR??????
As a Shen main for top, jg, or sup... this rework is completely awful. With no lifesteal I have no sustain in the lane which is only worsened by the fact there is no poke.. the same goes for a support. You cant taunt bot lane as a support without having a shield ready, but this new thing only blocks basic damage not spells.. His blade just being random is the most annoying thing ever. So for it to be effective... you have to get behind the enemy to place it? yeah makes sense. I am the most dissatisfied with this rework. Could have just made a new champion with this bs and left shen alone. Don't fix what isn't broken...... :(
No poke and no utility on Q. Setting up W is too little reward for the trouble and the cooldown to do it again if you mess it up is way too long (E's cooldown is also too long atleast on lower lvls). The one good thing is that now the shield scales on HP (which would have been the only rework Shen I would have needed for him).
Thanks for your hard work but not gonna play him anymore unless something is buffed or reworked again. Hope they don't mess up Taric...
Did anyone else have Yellow Jacket Shen and doesn't like the updated ragged look? To me, I like the older, cleaner look better.
I used to play Shen as a Top laner, but now his Q has been changed into something way useless: No poking potential, No counter kiting, No sustainability. So far, my first-hand experience to his new Q is nothing else but a skill for better last hitting... :(
shen being my second favorite champion since he had all the versatility before the rework and had so much playing potential in ever role, hell even his jungle camp clear times were 3 seconds faster, now he doesnt fit anywhere at all, cooldowns are too long to be useful anywhere so much so that you have to have the 40% cdr to do anything, the spirit blade passive is just abysmal and makes you have to position for it so one wrong move and no spirit's refuge or the call time is .5sec when close up to 4 sec when at max range from shen, the ki barrier shield strength isnt large enough for a base without the hp ratio scaling let alone the cd fo it is too long for how weak it is.....
there were some positives, but they werent enough to make him viable, the stamina regen passive on shadow dash is nice, granted the stamina pool cots and passives need to be tweeked some, and the twilight's assault isnt a bad concept if you remove the spirit blade out of the equation entirely, so no calling it to have the next three autos empowered and the percent health damage is a bad idea, make it flat damage with the last hit restoring health if it kills an enemy, and for spirits refuge, make it sort of a channel ability for blocking autos so shen has to stand there for up to 2 seconds to block autos and protect allies that are behind him....
all in all, maybe if they decide to rework him better before season 6 gets to far in, we will see his winrates and pickrates go up again
No range dmg to safely cs or poke, im just a dumb ninja dragging a big sword .... nice idea ....that sword really does a good job at pissing u off
Shen is disadvantaged in bettle 1vs1.Changing Shen skills in atack ability anithing be slick.
Ya know the change is both better and worse for me I like the new q but I miss the range and sustain but deleteing up to 21% of my enemy's heath is worth that every time I like the new passive more hands down since q is always up I have no problems last hitting and I tend to go full tank and just not die and I could never keep track of ki strike I miss the damage reduction on e through and I never had a problem with the spirit blade I just thought of it like ekko's uh clone? And since w has similar impact in a fight its so simple q is an easy way to relocate the blade and costs so little energy its practically free and with e passive it actually gives u energy ult is same they left that alone I wound up going with grasp of the undieing and with a q auto auto auto taking over one forth of my enemy's life and healing some now when is a powerful duleist tank that murders other tanks and has to have no range or he would be op and sustain forget it imagine a shen steals 1/4 of your heath then heals all of the damage you managed to do to him and dives again since and repeat it would be to powerfull
i hope we can all agree the shen rework and mord rework were absolute fails... the whole 3 hit thing is just a dumb mechanic you would be better of making is an empowered aa like vi e. i used to main shen and mord top lane before the rework and now i just don't play either of them anymore its really sad. the only cool thing they did for either champ is the mord being able to control he dragon... but even that is just a gimmick. Riot please fix these two champions.
I've played Shen Just about as much as I can handle.
Before if I played well as Shen I could carry and save the game (Which was pretty often) Now I run around trying to setup my Q.
His new passive hurts him and overall he does less damage and takes more damage early game.
Let me break down the damage as much as I can without looking up stats
Before he had a passive that increased in damage from his total health and its cooldown was reduced by 1 second for every auto attack.
That meant that it was feasible to build him a variety of ways including items such as BOTRK or Nashors Tooth and that could increase his dueling capabilities tremendously
His Q also did a substantial amount of damage before and it was ranged meaning that it could be paired with Rylia's and work as an effective ganking tool in situations where you just couldn't reach the enemy with your dash
His W was good but boring I get that so they changed into something more impact for the team and set up teamfights but as a solo champ he just lost all his capabilities to fighting by himself
I've already discussed it with the team that I played with, we really tried to work together to make Shen work but he just takes too much effort for too little reward. A 35% slow just int worth a 30 second second setup time. I mean Randuins omen is more reliable than his Q getting off a slow
To me the W change was interesting but it just wasn't worth seeing his Q and passive trashed
Did anyone knew Shen's secret combo? overload taunt make it be like a stunt or perhaps anything else.. lol
Shen is disadvantaged in bettle 1vs1 that has not skills for atack. You changing skills from help ability in atack ability.Changing in anything be slick.
When I first checked the news on the website i was like...OMG its finally here!!! Yes I´m really impressed by this rework in visual way. You guys made really good job. All skins look very different and unique. Change in his Q and W....the old W is now his passive his old passive its kind of in the new Q 3 hits but without heal and long range....yes the old Q had his magic and I totally understand those plyers who voted for worse.
New Q 3 hits is very good for those champions which they will build hp cuz more hp means he will take more hp and with that burst attackspeed i think it will make him really powerful. anyway each lvl higher his passive has lowe CD so at lvl 16 or else you will have passive shield every 3 second ready when you use Q or E and that shield will be bigger depends on his HP. + 400 energy max and E gives pasive with energy restored with using Q and E when you hit enemy so...you will still have that energy like the old shen had from his passive. His new E also dmg is stacking with HP but its physical dmg no magic and thats kind of hurt but I can take it.
Shen is my main champion and even with those changes i will play him always. He is badass...and he was always...in my heart ;)
He'll still play all three. They didn't take anything out that would stop him going Top or Jungle.
