I'd rather wait 5 more minutes for the queue than play a role I don't know how to play

It just doesn't make sense to me why you'd deliberately put someone in a position they don't know how to play in a competitive environment. It saves time queue wise, but it's a much bigger waste of time to play an unfair game. I understand the point in higher elos, like high diamond and above, but it's a shame it happens in plat and below, pathetic if you ask me. In my last 5 games, I've been autofilled twice, and lost both of those games purely off of the lack of knowledge of those roles. Why should I have to learn something if I don't want to play it? I don't like to rant but this has gone on much too long.

You know, back in the day in order to compete in ranked, you had to play every role. Sure, you had a main. But queuing for ranked meant you were prepared to play every role.

This new role system (not really new anymore), has pampered players so much and they forget this is a team game. Work like a team.

or you just spend some games picking up the gist and flow of other rolls just encase there is a need for it. expand your horizons and try other lanes >.>

I Agree to some certain extends. Autofill is bullshit for the nerves and patience, not gonna lie. I lose myself a lot too when i get autofilled as the ADC because i have only ever won games with myself as an adc if the enemy team was trolling at least twice as hard as ours or we conveniently had an enemy afk from botlane. i have NEVER won a fair 5v5 match as an adc, and the thought alone kills me. BUT, where i disagree with you now is that i rather still try and learn the role. League is a game, not a Project, there is no deadline, therefore there is no such Thing as "i can't". there is only "i can't YET". If i wanna learn something i use this Little Thing called reading and brain and switch over to Toolbox or coop vs ai where losing and winning matters NOTHING.

Sure, autofill is painful to the patience, but that is no excuse to sit on a lazy buttocks and tell yourself "i won't do it and tell myself i can't do it".

Because no matter how long you wait if 5 mids at your elo queue per minute compared to 2 supports per minute waiting isn't gonna make it better until things get so long many people quit the role or the game. I mean. That's the way the system launched with. It was pretty bad. I actually had 2 to 3 hour waits.

And if you played support or fill secondary that was a lie: you actually main support. Heavily. Which causes people to switch off support. Worsening the problem. Believe me it makes more sense now.

Beyond the 2 game autofill immunity the current system actually keeps a counter on how much autofill games you've played. When you've autofilled it goes down and so does the chances it happens again. So the system is actually fairly fair getting everyone to help pitch in on the problem every now and then like once every 4 5 or 6 games. But if you dodge when you're autofilled the system is gonna keep bulldogging you and seem worse than it is.

Wanna go back to pick order? I'd like that as a jack of all trades player. Seems pretty nostalgic at this point.

Just find one support character you like. Isn't that hard to play support.

Meh I have played this game forever. I am a low elo player with a basic understanding of each role so it doesn't really bother me. Hell I am playing fill in ranked now anyways. But I get your point.

Completely agree with this.I'm a support main,so I'm ok with any kind of matchmaking there is,but autofilling people is wrong just as much as the old order pick.People claim that you have to be a jack of all trades, able to play everything...all bs.Wanna compare lol to a sport?Good, let's compare it to soccer:

Will you ever ask to your goalkeeper to go in attack?Or vice versa,in a serious match?Obviously no,then why do that in League? If someone mains mid, obviously he's gonna suck jungle or adc,and he shouldn't practice those roles if he doesn't want to.This is a team game:therefore, give me my position in the team,or I can't do nothing.Bring back Team Builder and let the playerbase learn to choose support from time to time if they don't want 1 hour long queques, otherwise they can wait.At least that way the player decides, not the matchmaking.

They need to either remove autofill, or take out the idea of assigning roles to begin with-letting players select roles in game by pick order (to prevent people arguing), meaning you'll have to be proficient in all roles for ranked since you can't pre select where you want to go.

i agree with you and see your point, but i also see why they did it, and if its a common role your being autofilled, maybe get a duo with you or get a bit of understanding (not much) about that role, in season 5 (that crappy ranked draft system), i got stuck with support a lot, so i learnt it, and now im silver

TL:DR (srsly thats too long?!). good point but try to learn if its same role getting autofilled

AwesomeGuyDj7/19/2017, 10:52:01 AM1 votes

Look at the estimated queue time, if the actual waited time reaches half (maybe let it go longer, i use half normally) exit que, then go back into it. (you dont have to close the lobby)

I'd be okay with it if it matched the people's roles that get autofilled. Maybe that's slightly counterintuitive to the point of autofilling, but maybe it'd make autofill MORE attractive if people weren't stuck getting autofilled into ADC, then fighting an ADC main.

FightORFlight7/18/2017, 7:38:01 AM1 votes

What would happen when there would be a shortage of some role? queue times would skyrocket... you rarely get autofilled twice so just dodge that one game... -3 is better than -20. Or learn support and play a few games so that you are autofill ommited.

There was a reason RIOT didn't implement current ranked system sooner... There aren't 20% of every role in league. Perhaps 4LP extra or 4LP less after each game played as shorted role would even out the % of each role. But doubt RIOT would go for it.

DuskDaUmbreon7/18/2017, 3:07:52 PM1 votes

I wouldn't rather it. I'd rather 2 minute queues over 10 minute ones.

And, besides. I know every role reasonably well (as you're supposed to!), and I know that you can usually swap lanes with someone.

I'd say bring back teambuilder to replace blindpick. You still wouldn't see the enemy team, but at least you'd get to play what you wanted.
