What do you mean by riot removing supports?

Last few games there were no supports in both teams.. just ap burst mages playing dressup.

Well I still play support champs the majority of the time, and there is nothing wrong with going off meta either. I don't see how this means Riot are removing supports in anyway and I personally feel they are still viable to play, people are just trying out new things or something they've seen a youtuber play, the hype will likely die down again soon and everything will end up back to normal.

Back in season 2 support wasnt a thing. You could play 2 different champions bot lane such as xin zhao and volibear and not be reported, while your adc could go top lane. But riot has enforce this support meta, and thats why people don't like supporting. because nobody liked to be forced to do something or get reported.

you're talking like nobody likes to support. There are plenty of support mains so you need to stop this "Nobody likes to support" act. I didn't play back in season 2, so maybe there were no support champions and since its a class that doesn't take kills ofcourse people wouldn't play it, because they're used to get kills and feel acomplished, now support role came and everyone just felt like they're useless, no wonder riot "forced" to players to play support, because you wouldn't do it on your own and probably report those who do as "useless", "feeders", "Trolling".

Its ok if they go off meta, thats not the problem. If you take out support players that were the underdog in bot lane and put midlaners in, then you're making marksmen underdog, It might even become "mage" botlane meta, because without support noone protects marksmen in teamfights, assassin has to focus enemy marksmen so he has no time for you, toplaner farms top, and jngler which is probably another assasin focuses enemy marksmen, and you're left alone to defend agains 2 assassins all on your own.

The support role has changed a fair amount.

1.) Games tend to end faster these days, so Damage-heavy supports became a lot more 'in-meta'. They scale really well into mid game, even with minimal items. They help contest objectives more and ultimately it works.

2.) Supports wanted to be recognized for their skill more - Players were tired of being 'healbots' and 'shieldbots' .. Damage-heavy supports tend to favor this mindset, and let a support player be recognized for his play. I think Riot saw this, and balanced around it. It was a smart move in my opinion.

3.) Old-school supports are still completely relevant and still fairly popular, Thresh & Blitzcrank are great examples.

Isn't Thresh supposed to have like a crazy good winrate at the moment?
