Ranked System Fix (?)
Hello everyone, long time reader and first time poster! You have (obviously) noticed the overwhelming amount of "trolls" in all tiers of play, whether it be bronze or any of the tiers above, but bronze has the largest concentration of "trolls" as everyone knows. We all know how frustrating it can be and, being a dedicated player since Season 3, I really know how much it sucks. My original thought when I first hit level 30 and got into Ranked play was, "My team flat-out sucks!", but then it dawned upon me that while my teammates may be sub-par at times sometimes they're actually good, so I started playing Normals consistently so I could become a better player overall. I spent tireless hours watching replays of myself and looking up ways to improve, this went on for most of Season 4 and Season 5. Now finally getting back to Ranked play I am coming to realize that while I have gotten very good as a player in general, with bad games here and there, the ranking system is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE as it stands. It is based largely on a player's luck and, with the largest "troll" population, it is nearly impossible to get out of Bronze, it is slightly easier to advance in other tiers but not much. I've advanced to a level of play where I can do astronomically well and still lose because my teammates feed, afk, etc. I went 46-3-5 with Poppy, I had more kills then the ENTIRE enemy team, and still lost because my team was so terrible. So, finally, to what I propose is done to fix Ranked (maybe). I suggest the ranking system (The LP one gains) not be based on their team but rather their own personal performance. As in if you have a positive K/D/A (1/1/1 is still positive with kills counting as 1 point, assists .5 a point, and deaths -1 point) but still lose the game you will not lose ANY LP. Whereas if you have a positive K/D/A and win you will gain the max amount of LP that you can earn based on your MMR, and if you have a negative K/D/A but win you will gain .5 the amount of LP possible for your MMR. This will not stop people from going afk or "trolling" in general or get rid of the need for the Tribunal BUT it will allow players to counteract trolls and players will focus on improving on their play as well as working with their team more. This is a relatively simple fix that will solve most of the problems people have! It will still allow people to move up and down the Ranked Ladder and their rankings will more accurately reflect their own skill and where they deserve to be!
