Ekko's role

What role do you think Ekkos role will be. I hope he is a jungler, but I think it is most likely he will be mid.

Lanes should be irrelevant until we actually know what he does, not where he goes. Riot can't reinforce the lane a champion goes (except Kalista, I suppose) if we the players can decide what his kit can do. So I'll give it a shot.

Ekko appears to be a utility fighter, kind of like Shen (ult-wise, at least). Knowing this, he could either jungle and make use of his team-based utility, go top lane and take teleport to change the tide in any teamfight, go mid-lane as a hard counter against assassins (but not kiting mages), or maybe even support if he has enough utility in his kit.

My bad what I meant was what role in the game would he play like ADC or Support. I may have used the incorrect terminology for what I was trying to convey.

No, I understood you. I was just joking in the beginning before I gave a proper response. No need to apologize, you did nothing wrong and conveyed it properly.

I doubt he'll be an adc (maybe in a technical sense like Fiora, but he seems melee so he probably won't duo bot).

I'm thinking Mid/Top. Most likely a damage top lane similar to what you would build on Riven, also can be a flex-mid pick. Possibly jungler as well, but it won't be the role he's intended to be on release.

if he is an assassin...then he is a bad one. He had to try like 4 times to kill the brute, so thats like 3 failed assassination attempts....just sayin.

I think the better question here is how the time reversal mechanic is going to work in game. Do I who have been the victim of said time reversal get to change anything i just did in response to his changing his attack pattern? is it a total do over? am i stuck in a loop of watching the same WEQ combo happen over again while Ekko tries another option or quickly spamms QSS this time or zhonya's cuz he wasnt fast enough the first time? I am far less concerned about where they guy ends up on the rift as i am about "time reversal"

I am 99% positive it will just be a mobility blink mechanic.

Ekko presses Q to pull his cord thingy. Now, for however many seconds he can recast Q to return to that spot (or whatever key).

It obviously doesn't reset his health, and they don't want to retread the same ground as Zilean (but noooooow we know why Zilean's rework was boring as fuck instead of giving him cool time-related abilities...) so it won't be a revive mechanic, hopefully....

Nah. I can't see a world where Riot isn't uncreative enough that this won't be just mobility.

i suppose it depends on how the time reversal thing actually works...if everyone on the map now gets an extra few seconds to rotate and stop the assassination...then id say not very good assassin.

I'm hoping he's an assassin too. I'll list a few vewpoints:

He's using a sword - clearly a melee combatant.
He's small, but very agile and quick. He doesn't look like the sort of person who'd become a big tank.
After reversing time, he's kept his injuries - getting worse over time, but able to get better strikes in.

I have no idea how they're going to do his time reversal thing, but I'm hoping he'll be an assassin - or, if he's a bruiser, someone who's skirmishy rather than tanky.

From the supposed kit (It's not confirmed, so don't take this seriously), he appears to be an AD caster. Mid is the most likely place he'll be played.

He can build HP+AP and be golden; Hes a lot like Diana.

He seems to be able to top/mid/jungle well just like Diana. To be honest he seems better at the top lane over mid though. He can be a nasty bruiser or a bursty assassin, but as an assassin there are more reliable picks. I've spectated a bunch of games and he has amazing synergy with Riven, not to mention it's just beautiful to watch them dance across the rift swinging their blades. Once he hits live I intend to find a Riven main to duo with.
