Does anyone actually LIKE promos?
Think about the last time you reached a series. Think back to it. Now tell me, which of these two feelings were you leaning more towards:
1.) Super excitement at how important these next matches are!
2.) Frustration at the fear of possible feeders/AFK-ers/trolls in your next games
Riots official stance on promo games is supposedly that they give certain games a sense of importance, thus "improving the experience"
Feeders, AFK-ers, and trolls shouldn't be able to completely ruin all of the progress you've made towards the next division. Losing a regular game due to one of the aforementioned is obviously terrible, but it's better than losing a promo game, because a promo game can be the deciding factor on whether you progress to the next division, or get set back to the point that you'll need several wins to make up for the lost progress due to the lost promo game.
It's not like I'm asking for the impossible. I'm not asking for a completely, 100% negativity-free environment. All I want is to take some of the power away from those who choose to feed/troll/AFK. One salty teammate has too much control over the progress of the rest of the players on their team, and shouldn't be able to completely ruin all of the progress someone has made just to the next division.
Honestly I'd settle for a sort of Mercy System where the enemy team could choose to "show mercy" and save you from losing your promos in the event of an AFK or major troll. Everybody knows how it feels to have your series ruined by some asshat. So what if Riot made it so that if you're in your promos and an ally goes AFK or intentionally feeds profusely, the player in their promos could request the enemy team show mercy, and if they so choose, they can save this player from losing their promos due to the asshat. Perhaps it could cost the team choosing to show mercy some portion of their LP gained for the game in order to "save" the victim of the troll/AFK/feeder?
Personally, I know I would sacrifice 10-20% of my LP to save someone in their promos from some salty asshat, or even someone who just regularly disconnected. There have been so many suggestions to help people struggling with an allied feeder or AFK, from the "Show Mercy" suggestion to the idea that a completely new player could take an AFK's place as a sort of rescue system. So many good ideas could be implemented by Riot if they really wanted to keep promos THAT badly, yet so far absolutely ZERO progress has been made to alleviate the problem.
