Is Bard A Laner?

Im still kind of new to League so maybe this a newb question, but when it comes to bard I am a bit confused. It appears he is set up to be a support champ. However, if you want to collect the chimes for his stacks then it seems near impossible to help an adc lane at all times. He is dubbed the wandering caretaker so obviously he is meant to wander and collect his chimes but should he do this late game? Early game? Perhaps he is more of a jungler role? If someone could explain his role a bit to me it would be much appreciated. I look forward to giving him a try!

He is definitely a support. The chimes spawn at a regular interval and the map will fill up with them if you don't collect them. He will eventually be able to catch up in his chime collecting if he isn't continuously roaming to pick them up.

I think his kit really fits the role of support more than anything else. He basically has only one skill that does damage. All of the others are utility to benefit his team mates. The only other possible role that I think Barb can be played in would be jungle, in which is utility helps out quite a bit. But then, he would have to find a way to over come the first few clears.

Jungle Bard is really ineffective. ... inb4 bard release and Voyboy jungles bard and makes him popular

Never was I saying that jungle Bard was viable, I only said it is possible. I can see it work somehow tho. His Q that can stun/slow, his heal could be placed under tower for team mates to heal on, His ult that allow the team mates to get into position to attack.

COULD POSSIBLY work.
