Flex rank problems....

Last season was the first time I played ranked and when i finished my provisionals in 3's and I got ranked bronze 5 (surprise!). This season, however, I finished my 10 provisional matches against what appeared to be mostly golds and plats according to the app I was using and lost almost all of them and placed into silver 4. Since then I've lost every game and have been matched up with only golds and plats for the last 4 matches. I was wondering if there is a way I could get my rank lowered without having to ruin more matches for other players? I get that I'm supposed to learn, but when I get matchmade against a lane opponent who is 13 divisions higher it is really difficult to learn from. Should I just give up on Flex?

Now that solo queue is out, it wouldn't be a bad idea to just play that instead. Solo queue is a lot better than Flex queue.

However, one thing that's just as good to do is to focus on what your opponent is doing to beat you when they're higher rank than you, then try to recreate it in a different game. The Challenger YouTuber Pants are Dragon has admitted to getting himself to really high ranks back in season 2 using Tryndamere, who at the time was just insanely busted, to solo carry and then watching what his opponents were doing and learning from them. This can teach you how to play the lane phase at least, and from there you can learn to transfer your gold lead into a win.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to check that out. I've watched a lot of videos on techniques and skills that you need to climb, and I felt like I was doing ok at it, and then I just got jumped way higher than I can compete with which seems like a pretty common sentiment from other people I play with and threads here. It's tough to learn from the riven who kills you under tower starting at level three. Haha.

Another thing that Phylol does in his latest video on his gameplay channel is he shows how to figure out how to win lane when you don't know the matchup. he plays Renekton top vs Heimerdinger. He's an ADC main, and rarely plays top lane and very rarely plays against a Heimer. He ends up destroying him in lane, though, by knowing what the Heimer wants to do to beat him and avoids it.
