MMR Issues/Broken Ranked System

League of Legends is a great game, there's no doubt in that. However, over the past couple of weeks, I have noticed some SERIOUS flaws in the matchmaking system for, specifically, the Ranked Game mode.

When I jump into a Ranked Game, I am matched with some of the worst players NA has to offer. It's a simple, objective fact; they're just awful. I am currently locked with 0 LP in Bronze IV because I am matched with people that refuse to communicate, constantly feed, or simply disconnect. Of course, many people state that blaming my teammates is just a scapegoat for terrible skills; however, one must only look at my last few games to realize that I speak absolute truth.

Considering that my Normal Game matchmaking seems to be on point, I think Riot needs to reconsider the way they match ranked players. I think there should be a higher standard for Ranked Games. I should join a Ranked Game to find people dedicated to the game, but instead, I have to play Normals to find this. That's just wrong. I'd rather find these kinds of players in the Ranked mode, not in Normals.

After all this, I realize I may sound rather salty, but I truly am upset about all of this. Many other players base your skills on your rank, and I feel that this rank I currently hold does not display my true skill at all. As I cannot even improve in rank, it honestly pisses me off. All in all, I hope Riot changes this feature soon.

If you would like, please share your comments. I would love to discuss this and other things with anyone who is willing!

I hope you do not encounter any hiccups in your matchmaking ;)

Its a team base game. That's the issue. You can't win every match by your self. that's just a fact. Riot even said we don't want a champ that solo every thing. We want to have players work together. You want to get out of rank best way is to q with some one. Other wise not much else you can do, but hope for luck. Thats really it. You can go 10/0/0 and still lose the whole game because you need your team. Its a team base game.

I went from bronze 3 to silver 3 in a week last season. bronze 3, it has what you are saying, but I didn't find it hard at all. I just liked my lane and then killed everyone else really as adc (one of my worst roles at the time, I wanted to practice since I knew I wasn't bronze in skill). truly, I've seen many times when people say they are better than their rank and I've then seen them play. sometimes they do play better and other games they don't, which evens out and they don't take into account or they don't believe it.

if you can't climb out of bronze 4, then you couldn't climb out of a higher rank since bronze 4 is easier.

See, the issue is, I'm going highly positive every game. Save for serious Fuck ups where my teammates are 3-16, 2-12, etc. Even then, I'm one or two kills above my deaths. I'm not wavering at all from stellar scores.

KDA doesn't matter. you could carry with bad KDA. your team can win while down kills. one thing I notice is the cs at low ranks. another thing is positioning, next thing is pressuring. I'm naming things at random, but the point is, kills are just one part of the game.

I do think that if you should be higher, you will get higher. you just have to keep playing. if you don't get higher, it's where you should be.

In Bronze stop thinking of it as a team game..... Think to yourself what can I do to win.... As stated before work on cs, not dieing, look for openings, positioning. Pick a champ that can push towers like mad with out the help of team mates, in low elos (bronze in particular) they will stop mid push to go to baron or dragon instead of pushing ftw while the other team has 4-5 players dead and 40 secs till respawn. Don't get me wrong baron and dragon are nice to have but in bronze a lot of the players feel it is a must have to win and its not so get a good tower pusher and say screw them and keep rolling.

You can be fed, and have the most cs, and still lose the match. It is a team base game. You can take 3 towers and still lose. It only takes a few players to keep doing bad things and keep you from turning it around. Thinking that some miracle can happen with do some thing to help change the game can't work with out your team.

I completely agree with what you are saying.

But I have come to the point with the LoL community/Riot that if you don't have hard facts and a way to prove that you are doing all of these things. CS,KDA,Objectives on a constant basis no one will listen. All you will get is what myself or HH The Thinker said "I do think that if you should be higher, you will get higher. you just have to keep playing. if you don't get higher, it's where you should be". Kinda goes back to what I said work on you and if you are still in a bad spot at least you have cold hard facts to fall on to. Until more player do this we will never see a change in the ranked system.

My problem with all of this for example is today. Take a look at my match history if you would like to see for sure. I played three ranked matches today, I won one then lost then won the third taking home a total of 2 wins and one loss. Now heres where the mmr system frustrates myself and many others... I started the day with 28 lp in silver 5... after two wins and one loss however im only at 18 lp. Now I understand how the mmr system is supposed to work but there is something fundamentally wrong when you net a 66.6% win rate for the day and lose more than a third of your lp points in your division. The system needs to be reviewed at this point because winning the majority of your ranked games should net you an increase not the opposite. If a win streak is needed to boost your lp income every time then something else needs to be done because in lower elos thats damn near impossible. im lucky I have the win % in ranked I do have. Anyone have any feedback on this?

What I've gotten from the entire thread: the ranked is broken, but play a very specific number of champs, between 10-20 of the 123 existing champs, and you can proceed into higher tiers. When you play said 10-20 champs, while the game depends heavily on the 5 person team doing well, you are suppose to carry every game while 4 people may do very poorly or even 3 or 2 doing very poorly. So basically, a team game is telling you to play 10-20 champs of 123 and to carry your team despite any lost lanes or feeds otherwise....you suck. Got it.
